US Economy at Record Low: Dollar at Four-Decade Low vs. Euro

Another slow day at the Federal Reserve, as the US dollar was at a four-decade low against the Euro and Yuan. Chairman Mills pushed for stronger enforcement of nanotech legislation, citing an increase in nano-counterfeiting of currency. The proliferation of private assemblers makes enforcing such laws impractical, a number of critics claim…

Pro-Aztlan Group Claims Responsibility for DC Bombing

At 1000 hours this morning, a small atomic explosion was detected in Washington DC. Within minutes, government servers were flooded by electronic attacks traced from servers all across Latin America. The President, in joint session with most of Congress, was confirmed dead. The blast leveled the Capitol building, and threw the city into chaos as pro-Aztlan riots erupted. The Union of Latin Republics has announced its support for the Aztlan secessionist movement…

American Provisional Government Swears in Acting President

In the aftermath of the tragic bombing in Washington DC, Senator Joseph McLeod was sworn as the acting President of the United States of America. The Senator's controversial ties to the Global Evangelical Alliance have been cause for controversy in Europe and China. Despite this, President McLeod has promised closer ties to ATO…

Pacific Rim Federation Declares Support for Transhumanist Movement

In Singapore today, leaders from Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and southeast Asia gathered to announce their joint support for the Solarian Progressive Federation. "There's far too much regulation, and not enough economic freedom," a noted Singaporean economist stated. "In order to avoid what happened to the USA, we must ride the wave, not dam river. Inflexible things always break, and this is true philosophically, politically, and economically." The Shanghai Cooperation Organization has openly opposed this development…

Allied Treaty Organization Accepts SCO

With renewed hope for the future, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization officially joined the Allied Treaty Organization. "Nanosocialism and technoanarchism threaten our way of life," the Chinese diplomat is quoted as saying. "I am glad to see our comrades in the European Union and American Provisional Government agree that we are at a crossroads. Unrestricted nanotechnology poses a threat to all legitimate governments and civilians." This statement was followed by applause from the audience…

Nanosocialist Revolts Rock Africa

In the aftermath of the devastating riots in Capetown, the President of the South African Union announced today his country officially joined the Transnational Nanosocialist Alliance. The multi-national alliance has deployed peacekeepers to the region, despite protests from the Allied Treaty Organization's spokeswoman….

Technoanarchists Organize Augmented Militias

With the economic troubles in the former United States of America, a number of militias with access to nanotechnology have formed over the last few years. Use of unregulated implants and neural augmentations is commonplace in territories sympathetic to the Solarian Progressive Federation, and arming militants is only one application. "With neuraux chips like these, we can download combat experience into a few volunteers' heads, and bam, instant soldiers," an unnamed informant is quoted as saying. ATO attempts to regulate such implants have been increasingly undermined by the group of technoanarchist radicals known as the Sol-Prog-Fed. Similar linked are reported to have been formed in the former United States, primarily along the East and West Coasts, as well as throughout Brazil. The Pacific Rim Federation has welcomed this development…

Technoanarchist, Nanosocialist Militias Clash

Recent reports indicate border skirmishes between Extropian States militias in the American southwest with pro-Aztlan nanosocialist guerrillas. The Siege of Los Angeles continues, with Extropian forces backed by Pacific Rim Federation naval cover against an alleged ULR stronghold. TNA member-states in the Union of Latin Republics deny provoking cross-border actions…

Pan-Islamic Caliphate: Holy War Against China

Clashes between Chinese and Russian forces and Islamic guerrillas continues in the former nation of Kazakhstan. The Pan-Islamic Caliphate, a radical Sunni movement, has also continued a terrorist campaign of bombings all across Central Asia. Using illegal nano-assemblers hidden in trucks, the PIC can move their source of supplies around without attracting much attention. This has caused problems in other areas…

Ireland, Sweden, Germany To Withdraw From European Union

Despite official denials, leading political analysts say the movements are the direct result of Solarian and transhumanist sympathizers elected to Parliament. All EU and ATO military forces have been given a timetable to withdraw from the countries in question. When asked about defense, an unknown weblogger posted plans to form another Solarian Federation, this one a Euro-African one including Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia, Egypt, Greece, and Italy…

Sol-Prog-Fed Releases Radical Declaration, Threatens "Total Infowar"

"All sapient beings have freedom from government coercion" the declaration starts off. Transhumanist groups worldwide (most tied to the Solarian movement) continue to protest for the decriminalization of private nano-augmentation and genetic modification. "My body belongs to no government!" one protester exclaimed. "They strangle new ideas in bureaucracy and red tape! It's time to show them what nanotech can do!" Governments continue to educate people about the dangers of transhumanist ideas. "I don't understand these people," ATO officer Nigel Rogers said. "First, they mutilate themselves in sick ways, and second, they don't even think about the consequences of their actions. Do they have no idea that transhumanist radicals threaten our lifestyle? Longevity threatens to strain our population, and we all saw what unrestrained nanotechnology did to the American economy a decade ago…"

TNA Offensive: Argentine Attack On Falklands

After months of escalating tensions, the Transnational Nanosocialist Alliance started conventional military operations against the ATO. The Royal Navy has sent two carrier battle groups to the contested islands, which came under attack by long-ranged Argentine missile batteries. Argentina, the leading member of the ULR, is believed to have covert military assets outnumbering those of the British military. An unnamed British officer is quoted as saying, "If it's a war they want, it's a war they'll get! Argentines never learn, do they? This time, they forgot to consider the fact that Britain has her allies in the ATO supporting her wholeheartedly."
