Five Suns for a Lizard

I

Orange now that dawn is coming

Dragonflies are hot and humming

Sprawling for some peaceful strumming

Out on a rock, no alarm clock

II

Grinning now that sun is high

Tan the hillsides, blue the sky

Skitter through the slopes so dry

Lizard tracks between the cracks

III

White hot rock does capture light

Blinding all, but fine to sight

Radiant like a dancing sprite

Find shadow eyes watch bright blue skies

IV

Yellow is the sign of danger

Cooling off brings wily stranger

Quick as venom, run for manger

Safe little hut with pebbles is shut

V

Lazy red in eyes for holding

Sand is warm and rocks are molding

Clay and shadows now unfolding

Streaming flat and little red rat
