(VERSE ONE)
I know he believed in his ideals
I know he knew what the deal was
But how can I still believe
When now he's gone from me?
(Chorus)
He promised me ever after
We'd be together forever
But he lost his life
Combating fearsome strife
(VERSE TWO)
Lord, I have to wonder
Are you still in control
I have to believe you didn't blunder
(Chorus)
He promised me ever after
We'd be together forever
But he lost his life
Combating fearsome strife
(VERSE THREE)
He went in knowing this could be
And I know he didn't forget me
He didn't mean for this to happen
But he's with you now
Our ever after will last forever
(Chorus)
He promised me ever after
We'd be together forever
But he lost his life
Combating fearsome strife
I wrote this song after I read 'Ever After' by Lori Wick. The book deals with a lot of issues that are present in today's society, but mainly it focuses on the war in Iraq. Even though it's fictional it has a very real message and something that many people need to here. If you haven't read it, I highly encourage you to do so.
This song is dedicated to all the troops serving our country.
