a broken heart
a tragic memory
a past love
reflected at me through the silver
and refracted through my tears

knees tucked in close
face painted with red blush:
my embarrassment
and hurt
my past.

as i look at the chain
i'm no longer numb
like a wave forming
i'm swept away at sea
sitting in my tears
hidden by the ocean...

pain purified in God's presence
with hope cleansed, purged
touched by an angel
sweetened by honey
coated in sugar
embraced by faith
woven in my silver chain;
pressed into the palm of my hand

but just a silver necklace.
