CH. TWO

Allie, Luke, Jesse-Chris' mom, Bobby-Chris' dad, and Jake-Chris' brother rushed in St. Hope's Hospital.

Jake ran up to a doctor and grabbed him by the front of his shirt. "How's Chris? What's going on?! Tell me everything!"

"Jacob, calm down." Jesse said.

"Excuse me, but my brother's in the hospital and you want me to CALM DOWN?!" Jake exclaimed.

"Excuse me, but are any of you related to...Christopher Daniels?" a doctor asked.

"We are!" Bobby said. "We are his parents."

"And I'm his brother." Jake said.

"We're his friends." Allie said motioning to herself and Luke.

"Now can you please tell us what happened to Chris?" Luke asked.

"He's got Poliomyelitis, which is a major cause of Paralysis."

"What?" Luke and Jake asked in unison confused.

"He means polio." Allie said. She turned to the doctor. "How come we didn't know he had it?"

"Well Chris' case was asymptomatic, which means he didn't develop symptoms."

"How did he get it?" Bobby asked.

"Well polio is an acute viral infectious disease, spread from person-to-person, primarily via the mouth." the doctor said.

"You mean it was because of something he ate?" Jake asked.

"Basically. Anyway, the polio cause the Paralysis, which was why Chris couldn't feel his legs and collapsed."

"He's paralyzed?" Luke asked.

"Technically. Now the doctors say that another cause of this was Hemiplegia, which is a weakness in the vertical half of the body. And since it affected his spinal chord, he's paralyzed from the waist down. But we're not certain if that was an option yet."

"Oh my God." Allie whispered. Tears stung at her eyes.

"How is he now?" Jesse asked.

"He's asleep now, but you can all go visit him." the doctor said. The group rushed down the hall and into Chris' room. They stopped halfway and Jake and Allie ran back to the doctor.

"Which room is his?" Allie asked.

"Room 308." the doctor replied.

"Let's go!" Jake cried and they all ran down the hall again.
