Laura, u might get mad at me for starting another story and not finishing the other … haha!
If any name is used in someone else's story I am terribly sorry + it is pure coincidence.
This story came to me while eating supper … strange … the pasta had nothing to do with it I'm sure … Enjoy!
I am Raandi. I was once an ignorant child; had no thought I was bought up in safety and disguise. I had no idea that world of protection would soon end the night a priest came to my home. What he told me I thought were lies. I mean, would you believe you were
"A princess? Me?"
"Yes and your name-"
"My name?"
"Your name is fake, a pseudonym to keep you safe"
"My nameis fake? What are you talking about? Next thing you are going to tell me is that I'm not human! I'm an ordinary child! And your jesting cannot convince me!"
"I am not jesting!" the man sighed, then his eyes lit up "Do you have a gold ring perchance?
"Why? If you want to buy anything of mine you had better go, I'm not selling anything" Raandi stepped away to pick up a bucket, noticing his twinkling eyes.
"I am not looking to buy anything from you; I am merely asking a question! Now, where is it?"
"How do you know if I have a gold ring or not? I will never sell it to you in a million years!"
"So you do have it!"
Raandi started to get impatient; she didn't even know him, let alone his name she realized
"Tell me your name!" she asked.
"Priest Ranid Amilaya … well not much of a priest now…"
"You? A priest? You do not act like one! Priests aren't stealers!"
"I didn't steal anything! … We are wasting time! If we do not leave within a day they will come!" He started walking towards her small hut. Raandi grabbed him at the arm.
"Stranger! I do not care for your lies! You cannot barge into my home like this!"
The priest sighed and turned around to face her.
"Look, give me a chance to explain in your hut, nei?"
Raandi looked into his eyes. Ever since she was little she could tell all kinds of emotions through people's eyes – even people's life stories.
She could only see honesty and a sort of family affection for her- suddenly she felt herself back away quickly as if she were shocked
"I wouldn't get so far there. … You have your father's gift I see … now come! Let's go inside"
Raandi stood there surprised. He blocked her mind away from her, as if she were a prying child.
She slowly followed him towards the hut but staying a short distance away from him.
"Now" They were in the hut and seated at Raandi's kitchen table. She stayed quiet, looking at him with frightened eyes.
"Now" he said again when he finished eyeing around them "you were born into a royal family …Raandi.
"How do you know my-"
He held up a hand at her; she quieted. "Please remain quiet until my story is finished"
Raandi nodded grudgingly.
"Now, where was I? Ah yes, the royal family … You were born secretly, no one knew except the family and two trusted advisors … I being one of them …Your real parents, goddess bless their souls, were Liyinda Razmura, and Rayandell Razmura. Many of the people were curious about them, even if they thought they knew their leaders. Rumours were always around the city- Libélla - about how they heard that they possessed some kind of sorcery"
"And did they?" Raandi looked captivated.
"Yes and no, my child" He smiled at her look of confusion "If they did, they merely confided in themselves, for I never knew until a few weeks ago. Their own greedy people killed your parents to try and find out if this rumour was true. They found absolutely nothing. It was after they rummaged through the whole palace, even raping the handmaids, was when they stopped"
"Why did they rape them? The handmaids?"
"For any information, it seems the maids refused to tell them anything and that made the men quite angry"
"Where were you? Couldn't you have stopped them?" Raandi asked accusingly at him.
"I was away at the time visiting some of my old friends in the neighbouring town, and trust me; I came as soon as I heard! You couldn't imagine what pain I went through when I saw them dead on the floor! I can never get the horrible image out of my mind…" he winced.
"So … I can guess they heard about me, and think I possess the sorcery? They're supposedly after me now?" Raandi smirked.
"You do not believe me do you?" He shook his head sadly. He sighed, got up and walked towards the door then he suddenly turned around
"You will be sorry about this, I am sure … if you do not want to come with me I cannot stop you from doing so, but I will tell you this … your not escaping is going to be in vain against your parents, who so desperately tried to save you. They sent you here to live with an elderly lady who said she would love to take care of you. The lady died not long ago right?"
"A week ago" Raandi whispered. She bowed her head, feeling tears coming in her eyes. She suddenly felt a surge of hatred towards the priest.
"Go! I never want to see you again! You have brought displeasing and wretched lies onto me! Now, go! Leave at once!" shouted Raandi. She then turned around and went upstairs to her small room. It was after she heard him shut the door that she burst into tears.
