This is where we learn
to fly
The place up here where
no one can die
This is where we learn
to see
Past arrogance, anger
and petty needs
Little things like that
have dragged us down
Down further than hell,
down past the ground
Little things like that
make us bleed
From our ears and badly
scraped knees
So joyful were we in
the age of innocence
It was not terrible nor
great for those who lived in ignorance
So joyful did we sing
on high
We forgot for a moment
the things of sadness and darkened skies
And then you pasted a
smile on your face
Laughing at the
confronting doom and bitter taste
And then you passed me
a banquet of purple daisies
I knew what they stood
for: our love is crazy
Those purple daisies
stand for love
For a reason to stay in
the gold above
Those purple daisies
stand for truth
For anything other than
lies uncouth
Purple daisies in the
sun
They flatter and blink
and look down to no one
Purple daisies under
the blanket of night
Their mission is to
bring surprise and delight
This is where we learn
to fly
The place up here where
no one can die
This is where we know
we're safe
From everything but us,
but together, even that we can face
