Chapter 13: Epilogue
A Year and a Half Later
Sophie sighed as she was taking the last few things and pictures out of her locker. High school was over. Nick and Sophie won Prom King and Queen which wasn't a shocker to Sophie. I mean she was dating Nick Parker. I'm dating Nick Parker, she thought with a smile on her face. Isabella ended up with Joey and Margaret and David finally got together at prom. She was happy for them. Oh, and the best part of everything is that the only guy Molly could get from now on was Cory Michaels. That's right. They've been going out since the end of junior year.
Suddenly a pair of hands made their way over Sophie's eyes. "Guess who." A voice said. Sophie smiled and paused, pretending to think. "Come on."
"Brad Pitt? The love of my life."
Sophie was spun around to face Nick who had a shocked and jealous expression on his face. It made Sophie smile wider.
"Excuse me; I am way cuter than Brad Pitt. And I thought I was the love of your life."
"Sure you are babe." Sophie said turning back to her locker. She felt his arms wrap themselves around her waist and she smiled. He leaned down and kissed her cheek down to her neck.
"I bet Brad Pitt can't kiss as well as me." He said with a smile.
"I don't know, babe. He seemed really good last night."
"Soph, I'm truly hurt."
"Eh, your ego needed some deflating." She laughed.
"Oh really?"
Nick smiled and started tickling her stomach. Sophie tilted her head back on his shoulder and started to laugh. She dropped some of her stuff and was trying to push his arms off of her. He was too strong. "Ok! You're way hotter than Brad Pitt!" she laughed.
"And?"
"And a way better kisser."
He stopped tickling her and smiled.
"See, it wasn't that hard."
"Of course not. I had some motivation." She said before picking up her stuff. Damn him for knowing my weakness. "So, am I still coming over for movies tonight?"
"Of course, babe. It's Friday night."
She leaned forward and gave him a kiss.
"Ew! Please no PDA's!" someone shouted. Sophie broke apart their kiss and looked to her right to see Isabella. Sophie placed a hand on her hip and raised her eyebrows.
"Uh Is, I wouldn't be talking babe. I've seen you and Joey kiss multiple times."
"Yeah, but you don't have to watch." She said smirking as she walked closer. Sophie rolled her eyes.
"Neither do you."
"I know, but you know me. I can't help it." She laughed. "So, Nick any big plans before college?" He shrugged.
"Maybe a party."
"Am I invited?" Sophie asked with a smile.
"On one condition."
"What?"
"Don't bring Brad Pitt." He said now smiling ear to ear.
"No problem." Sophie laughed. Isabella stood there highly confused. Sophie and Nick stood there, gazing into each other's eyes and with huge smiles on their faces. Isabella pretended to gag and Sophie broke her gaze from Nick and turned towards Isabella.
"If our love is bothering you, go find Margaret."
"She's with David, and they're worse than you two." Isabella said rolling her eyes. "And that's saying something."
"Hey, I resent that." Nick said.
"Whatever you say big guy. I'll call you hon." Isabella said walking towards the exit. Sophie turned back to Nick.
"Come on, I'll take you home." Nick said. Sophie nodded, grabbed her stuff, and left her high school for the very last time. She was sad to know she was leaving all of her memories but happy she could start a new beginning in college. Everything was going the way she wanted. She had the guy, great friends, and Molly stopped making fun of her as much. It's amazing what cow manure, beans, a lizard, and hard work can do. And they caught it all on tape. Sophie smiled at the thought.
Tonight was Sophie and Nick's movie night. It was a tradition they started not too long after they started dating. Tonight, they watched the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie. It was one of Nick's favorite movies. It had action, drama, and hilarious moments. Nick turned off the DVD player and looked down at Sophie who was laying her head against his chest. He smiled and kissed the top of her head.
"I love that movie." Sophie said sitting up and laying her head against his shoulder. "Orlando Bloom is hot."
"You know, from now on the only movies you can watch are the ones where ugly guys are the main characters." She looked up, rolled her eyes and hit his chest playfully. "What can I say, I'm jealous babe."
"What are we going to do with you?" Sophie said smiling. A huge grin spread across his face.
"Looks like you'll just have to marry me."
"Sure thing, Mr. Jealousy."
"So, you say yes. You will marry me."
She gave him a confused look which only made him smile. He pulled a small diamond ring out of his pocket and Sophie's face lit up. He just chuckled.
"Are you serious?!" Sophie exclaimed.
"If I wasn't, would I have bought a diamond ring?"
"Nick! How could you afford something like this?"
"I had a little help from the parentals. So, it's a yes."
"If you're going to propose, then do it right."
Nick got off the couch and went down on one knee. Sophie sat up straight with a huge smile on her face. Nick held her hands.
"Sophie Marie Johnson, will you marry me?"
"If I say no, will you lock me in a bathroom until I say yes?"
"Of course."
Sophie laughed. "Then yes. I would love to marry you Nick Parker."
Nick placed the ring on Sophie's ring finger and sat on the couch next to her. He pulled her into a kiss so passionate; he almost went into cardiac arrest. Sophie broke apart and looked around. "What are you looking for, Soph?"
"The hidden camera."
"What are you talking about?"
"The hidden camera that you used to tape this."
"I wouldn't do such a thing. What would make you think that?"
"Oh please." Sophie said rolling her eyes. "I'll let it go for now, but if I find this video up on youtube you will be dead." Nick leaned down and kissed her.
"You're so loving towards your fiancé."
"I know." She giggled.
XOX
It's been a week since Nick proposed to Sophie. And Sophie still hasn't spoken a word about it to Isabella and Margaret. She planned on telling them tonight, at Nick's end of high school celebration party. It was killing her not to tell them, especially when they kept bugging her to tell them. Ever since that night, Sophie couldn't help but smile. Sophie Marie Parker. Mr. and Mrs. Parker. Sophie couldn't help but smile again.
"Sophie, what in god's name are you smiling for?" Isabella asked with her hands on her hips. Margaret nodded.
"Nothing, its nothing."
"That's a load of bullshit, and you know it. You've been smiling non-stop for the past week. What's going on? And don't say nothing."
"Look, can we talk about this later? We need to get ready for the Nick's party." She couldn't help but smile again at the thought of Nick.
"Fine, but we will talk later."
Sophie rolled her eyes and nodded. Sophie put on her black, pleated skirt that went down to right above her knees. She also put on her dark green shirt that hugged her body like a glove with her black boots. Isabella put on her jean skirt, with a black shirt. Margaret put on a white skirt with a light blue top. Sophie left her brown hair down and slightly curled it at the bottom. Isabella put white color streaks in her hair. It looked really cool with her black hair. And Margaret put her hair up in a ponytail.
"I must say girls, we sure clean up good." Isabella said as they looked at themselves in the mirror.
"I must agree." Margaret laughed. They all hopped into Isabella's car and drove off to Nick's house. When they arrived, the party was in full swing. The second they entered the party Isabella and Margaret left Sophie to go find their boyfriends. Unfortunately, Sophie couldn't find Nick through the crowd of the party. She decided to go to the kitchen to grab a coke.
"Sophie."
"Molly." Sophie said with a smile.
"I'd compliment your outfit, but I'd be lying."
"Is that a lizard on your head?"
"WHAT?!" She shrieked. Sophie burst out laughing, along with the other people in the room. Molly stopped jumping around hysterically to glare at her. Before Molly could retaliate, her boyfriend Cory came into the room.
"You ok, baby? I heard you screaming." Cory said putting his hand on her shoulder. Molly smiled.
"I thought I saw a spider. That's all, hon."
He leaned down and gave her a kiss, on the lips. He took her hand and led her out of the kitchen. Sophie found that it was completely hilarious and ironic that they were going out. A pair of arms wrapped around Sophie's waist.
"You look pretty sexy tonight." A voice said. Sophie smiled and turned around in Nick's arms.
"Why thank you fiancé."
"I like the sound of that." He leaned down and gave her a kiss. "Come on, babe. Joey is going to make an announcement pretty soon."
"Ok."
Nick grabbed her hand and led her out to the living room. Joey stood up on a chair and caught the attention of a few people. David turned off the music and all heads turned towards him.
"Attention people!" Joey shouted. Now everyone turned to Joey. "As we all know, about a year ago my awesome buddy over here, Nick got together with Sophie. Finally! I mean you've only loved each other since the first grade. And I would like to show a video I made for you guys. Enjoy."
Sophie glanced up at Nick and then at the TV. The song "I'd Do Anything" by Simple Plan started to play as pictures and video clips were playing. There was even the video from the school bathroom. And then, the music stopped. The words "And now…the greatest moment of their life" played across the screen. "For now." Next to play was the video from when Nick proposed to Sophie from a week ago. When the video ended Joey stood back up on the chair.
"Congratulations to the happy couple. Is there anything you'd like to say?"
Sophie turned to Nick and crossed her arms with her eyebrows raised.
"Yeah, I think my soon to be wife is going to murder me." Nick said looking frightened.
"I can't believe how…" Nick cringed getting ready for the worst. "Sweet you are!"
"Come again?"
"You are so unbelievably sweet and romantic." Sophie said with a smile. Nick put on his famous smirk.
"I know I am."
"And I have a video too, sweetie."
"Oh really?"
"Oh yeah. Hey Isabella, put it in."
"Sure thing, babe."
When the DVD was put in, it showed Sophie sitting in her room, looking into the camera.
"Hey, everyone. Since my awesome boyfriend and now soon to be husband is always being sweet and romantic and broadcasting our love…I'd like to return the favor. This is for you honey."
Nick wrapped an arm around her shoulder and gave her a light kiss. He turned back to the screen. Next playing was a video of Nick in the bathroom, standing in front of the mirror in his boxers. He was singing "Girlfriend" by Avril Lavigne into his hairbrush. Nick turned to look at his girlfriend who was laughing her ass off.
"You know what, sweetie?"
"What?" she laughed.
"You are the sweetest, but I know how to make you even sweeter." Nick said with a smirk. He walked into the kitchen and Sophie stood there confused. The next thing she knew, a piece of cake was thrown at her face. Sophie's mouth fell open. Everyone around them was laughing. Sophie wiped the frosting out of her eyes to see Nick laughing.
"Here honey. Have some cake." Sophie threw a piece of cake but Nick ducked and it hit Margaret instead. "I am so sorry!" Margaret smiled and threw a piece of cake at Sophie. She ducked and it ended up hitting Joey.
"FOOD FIGHT!!!" Joey shouted. That's when all hell broke loose. Food was flying everywhere. Nick and Sophie ran to the kitchen and hid behind the cabinets. The couple took a look at each other and burst out laughing.
"You look hilarious!" she said laughing.
"You don't look half bad covered in cake. It's actually pretty hot."
"I'll remember that on our wedding night."
"Hmmm…kinky."
Sophie smiled and leaned forward to kiss Nick. Sophie looked at her fiancé and smiled. He returned the smile.
"What are you thinking Sophie Marie Johnson?"
"If I had to be stuck in a bathroom with anyone, I'm glad it was you."
Suddenly, from above, a piece of cake fell on their heads. They looked up to see Isabella leaning over the counter.
"That was for keeping your engagement a secret." She laughed. Sophie got up and chased her friend into the living room. So, my life proves something. You can find love anywhere. I just hope college is this fun.
The End
