Rainy Day Love

Today was a rainy spring day. There, in a house, sat a sixteen year-old girl, as she stared out the window. She ran a hand through her long crimson hair as she looked out the window with a longing to go out.

It's been raining on and off for three days straight. The streets below her apartment building were empty. Nobody wanted to go out if they don't have to. She wanted to but had no one to go out with. Her friends really didn't like the rain too much. Remy thought it would ruin her hair. John liked to read on rainy days. Angie just doesn't like the rain period. Logan is supposed to be at his soccer practice. The Key words were 'supposed to be.'

As she was staring out the window, she heard a knock on the door. The girl got up from her seat and opened it. There, standing in the door way, was her friend Logan, soaking wet from top to bottom, mud all over his face, clothes and a little grass in his brown hair. He was all dirty as he held a soccer ball in her doorway. He smiled at her as he asked the fated question. "Hey! You wanna come out and play?"

The crimson hair beauty shook her head "You know you sound like a child when you say stuff like that." She said to him without answering his question.

Logan rolled his eyes, "Yeah, So? . . . Do you wanna come out or not Ella?" His patience was wearing thin with her habit of not answering questions.

"Yeah, just let me change my clothes." Ella paused as she looked at him as she decided if she would invite him in or not. "Don't step off the mat. Or my Mom will kill me if the rug got muddy." Ella ran off to her room to change. A few moments later she returned changed into a pair of sweatpants, a ratty old oversized black shirt. Her long crimson locks were thrown up in a messy bun on the top of her head.

Once change Ella left a note for her mom telling her that she went out with Logan, but it wasn't like she would be home before Ella got back anyway. She led him out of the house; locked the door with the key from under the mat.

Logan and Ella walked out into the pouring rain with their arms linked. The two seem to be the only ones smart enough or dumb enough to go out into the rain like this- it all depended on your point of view. They walked past stores nearly empty and restaurants with just one or two tables filled.

When the two teenagers finally made it to the park, Ella wrenched out of Logan's grip so fast that the boy fell onto the muddy ground. Ella didn't seem to care as she ran to the swings; she quickly hopped onto one and started to swing. Logan got up from the ground, then slowly made his way to the swing set and sat in an empty seat next to her. He threw his soccer ball at the pole next to his swing.

Ella looked at him while she swung higher and higher. "Why aren't you at practice?" The question had bugged her since she opened the door to see him at her doorstep.

"Coach ended it early, the mud was too slippery." He smiled happily at the thought of his coach as he dismissed practice.

They were quiet for a while as they enjoyed the rain in silence. Not one of those awkward silences, just a friendly, comfortable silence.

The rain by then soaked through Ella's once dry clothes. She didn't seem to mind. "Tanks for saving me. I thought I was going to die from boredom!"

Logan chuckled at her overdramatic thought and swung higher. "I bet I can jump farther then you." Ella finally challenged him when she thought she got enough air to beat him.

Logan started to pump his legs back and forth harder, as he took her challenge seriously, "Can not"

Ella smiled on the inside; she loved competing against him, the adrenaline pumped through her veins as it pushed her harder. "Can too"

"Can not" He argued back, he wasn't going to let her win.

"Can too. Just watch." She swung even higher. After about three more powerful leg pumps, she jumped off the swing and landed on her feet with her arms out stretched like a gymnast. She landed a good four feet away. Ella spun around to face Logan with a smile on her face as she stuck her tongue out at him.

Logan laughed at her childish behavior. He swung back and forth a few more times before he finally jumped off the swing. His landing was a mess as he struggled to stay balanced; he landed a few inches behind her.

Ella laughed in his face, she creamed him. She laughed and pointed at him obnoxiously to rub it in his face that she beat him. Logan rolled his eyes at his best-friend-and-crush's antics. He playfully shoved her arm. Ella wasn't expecting that reaction from him, it threw her off balance as she fell to the muddy ground.

Ella laid on the muddy ground as she laughed harder. She laughed until her sides hurt. Ella couldn't figure out for the life of her why she was laughing so hard but it felt good. Logan looked down at her confused, but a smile played on his face.

A few minutes passed until Ella was able to calm down. She was hoisted up from the ground by Logan. As he pulled her up her body crashed right into Logan. She looked up at him and smiled. Logan smiled down at her as he was unaware of how the closeness of their bodies was making Ella's stomach do a weird flip she didn't understand.

Ella pulled away from Logan and then linked her arm through Logan's and started to lead him away from the jungle gym. Logan quickly grabbed his soccer ball from where he left it next to a pole by his swing. "So do you wanna play soccer?" Logan asked Ella without even thinking.

Ella looked up at the rain clouds as she let the rain fall onto her face and drip down her face while she thought. She injured her knee in a car crash and couldn't play soccer as well as she used to, so she quit. Soccer was a sore subject for her. As she thought, Logan walked beside her, regretting that he mentioned soccer. He knew he shouldn't have asked but he did anyway.

"Sure I'll play." Ella said to him, breaking him out of his guilty thoughts.

He looked at her in surprise. "Really?" He wasn't expecting that answer, he thought she was going to yell at him or ignore him.

She nodded her head with an amused look on her face. "Race ya!" She took off to the empty soccer field without another word. As she ran Logan could see the faint limp in her run.

Logan called playfully from behind "No fair. That's cheating"

He sprinted to catch her. He ran up right behind her and pulled on her arm pulling her back. Ella's body was shocked to be pulled backwards while it was moving forward at a fast pace so she lost her footing and fell backwards as she brought Logan down with her. She laid on the ground in surprise before she started to laugh. Logan looked to the side at her and laughed. He rolled over top of her.

Her laughter stopped as she looked up at him. It felt like the air flew right out of her lungs. Logan smiled down at her. This was the moment he was waiting for months now. He quickly leaned forward and planted a chaste kiss on her lips. Lingering over her he slowly pulled away.

Ella looked up at him amazed; she wasn't expecting that, not in a million years. Wasn't he just flirting the other day with the brunette on the bus? She was confused but happy. Her heart was racing; the adrenaline pulsed through her veins and in her ears.

Logan started to pull off of her worried he did the wrong thing. "Sorry, I…I thought…Sorry." He wouldn't look at her out of embarrassment.

It took a few seconds for Ella to find her voice, "Wait!"

Logan stopped and looked at her to see a smile slowly creep its way onto her face. He smiled timidly back. "Yes?" He felt so awkward and he hated it.

"I'm not mad at you, just shocked. I thought you liked the brunette on the bus." She felt the mud seep into her sweatpants but she didn't care. What he was going to say would be so much more important to her.

Logan looked confused. "I don't even like her, I just wanted a piece of her gum." Ella thought that, that was a typical thing he would do and believed him.

Ella reached an arm up and tugged on the neck of his t-shirt.

Logan lowered himself painfully slow, unsure. He tenderly leaned in for another kiss which Ella responded back with so much passion that it stunned Logan; he wasn't anticipating that from her.

Their kiss didn't last long, because Logan's arms were getting tired of holding his body above Ella's. Logan pulled off of her and hauled her up with him. He wrapped an arm around her waist, and then placed a kiss on her forehead.

Ella looked up to stare at him as he stared back. There was a moment of silence before Logan shouted as he pulled himself away from her and raced to pick up the once forgotten soccer ball, "I'm gonna beat you this time." He was laughing the whole run to the soccer field with Ella racing behind him.

Ella sprinted after him as he ran. She felt free as she ran. Like she just shredded something that was holding her back. Maybe she would start soccer again, with the help of Logan training her of course.

I know lots have changed, but Ella and Logan are the same. This is wayyyyyy better writen then the last draft. I hope everyone likes the new version on it. I should have the beta-ed version of this story up soon.
