"Him & I"
This is our story...
Ethan and I had been friends for a long time. I had known him since I was 16 going 17 and he had known me since he was 17 going 18. We got along great the day we first met. It was in the local park, celebrating a friend's birthday. A friend we both knew well, separately.
We were playing soccer in the warm sun, two on two, whilst the rest lay on the rug in the shade of a large tree. Our mutual friend was, Jason, and those who were present was: his girlfriend Sheryl, Mitch, Ethan and I. At first the teams were boys versus girls. Then Sheryl pulled out due to exhaustion (she wasn't much of a sport player) so Jason's cousin Mitch took her place. Jason and Mitch had always played soccer together so they paired up without telling neither Ethan nor I. So when the game started, Ethan had passed the ball to Jason who passed it to Mitch, who scored the goal for their team.
"You should have told us you were switching the teams!" I grumbled at them.
"Sorry sis!" Jason called out as he ran with the ball with Mitch chasing behind. Whilst Ethan and I remained where we were, (Jason always called me 'sis', and I always called him 'bro', it was more of a sibling relationship that we had rather than an intimate one).
"Uh ok?" I replied giving me an unimpressed look.
"You play soccer much?" Ethan asked me.
"I play whenever I can. Which is hardly ever, I usually prefer shooting a couple of hoops," I replied, smiling kindly.
"Same here, although I'm more of a tennis person. I play tennis on weekends,"
"Nice... At least you've stuck to one sport. I used to play tennis, and then mom pulled me out cause of my weak ankles,"
"That's too bad. You missed out on a lot I would presume?"
"Way too much. What's your name by the way?"
"I'm Ethan. And your name would be?"
"Nice to meet you Paige," Ethan said, holding out his hand for a shake.
"The same with you Ethan," I said, shaking his hand.
"Are you two going to play or not?" Mitch called out waiting for us at their goal.
"Wanna beat those wannabes?" I asked Ethan with a grin on my face.
"It would be my pleasure," Ethan replied, a cute boyish grin appearing on his face
