she evicted him
from her head
like one would
an unruly tenant:
kicking and shouting.
and when he
thought that no
one was looking,
he tried to
sneak back in;
but she had
changed the locks.
it was pointless;
she had no
use for him,
she was moving
on in life.
all he did
was take up
space, when she
had so little
to begin with.
he stood forlornly
on the corner
of the street,
suitcase in hand,
and waited for
the next girl
to come along.
