The Name of Hunger

Do you hear his cry

In the middle of the night

Begging for food,

Begging for life?

Do you feel his pain

As hunger turns him insane

Tormenting his body,

Leaving him maimed?

As he slowly disappears?

They stagger down his face

As he fades with the years...

Did you turn your head

To avoid seeing the dead?

Or did you watch in apathy

the little boy on his deathbed?

Will you say his name

To prevent further pain?

Will you cease the cry

And stop Hunger's reign?

I will.

About 1,000 people an hour die of starvation, and around 900 of these people are children under the age of five. There are ways to help that everybody can do, and as a girl who gets plenty to eat every day (not to mention the other luxeries of life), I personally feel that it is my humane duty to make sure everybody else gets (at the very very least) this one staple of life: food.

A good way to help is to go to and just click the big orange button in the middle. This automatically gives 1.1 cups of food to someone who would have otherwise starved (and it isn't a scam!!! it actually works! isn't that so cool?)
