"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy, when skies are grey," Katherine sang softly while staring out the window, plucking the petals on the sunflower she was holding.

"Katherine?" her sister, Melanie, who was making her bed, said.

"You'll never know dear, how much I love you," Katherine continued singing.

Melanie sat on her bed and tears trickled down her cheeks.

"The other night dear, as I lay dreaming," Katherine was still singing.

"Mel!" Katherine yelled as soon as she stepped into the house.

Melanie who was in the kitchen came running out.

"What is it?" Melanie asked.

"Oh, Melanie, I think I'm in love! Jack is so cute!" Katherine exclaimed.

Melanie laughed.

"Well then I'm happy for you," she said.

Melanie wiped her tears and looked at her younger sister who was still singing. Her heart broke looking at her sister.

Katherine and Jack were walking on the beach. The wind was blowing softly. It was the perfect summer.

Then, he took Katherine by her waist.

"I love you, you know that?" he whispered.

"Yes, I know. And I love you too," she whispered back with a smile.

By now, their faces were so close to each other's that their nose touched each other's. Jack smiled at Katherine who smiled back.

Then, they kissed.

"It's raining. We can't go out," Katherine whined as Jack looked out the window.

"It's alright. We'll just stay here," Jack smiled and went over to where Katherine was standing.

Katherine was pouting. Jack gave her a kiss on her forehead.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy, when skies are grey," he sang.

Katherine smiled.

"I don't think that's the end of the song," she joked.

"I think that's enough for now," he answered.

Katherine was still humming the tune of the song while Melanie was still sitting on the bed, staring at her sister.

Everyone clapped as Katherine blew out the candles on her cake.

"Happy birthday, baby," Jack whispered to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

Katherine gave Jack a little smile. Then, Melanie ran towards her sister and hugged her.

"Oh, Katherine, your twenty-two now!" Melanie exclaimed.

"I know! It's so exciting!" Katherine replied.

Katherine looked beautiful that night. Her long and straight dark red hair was in ponytail and she was wearing a beautiful light pink mini dress.

Suddenly, Katherine felt a tap on her shoulders. It was Jack.

"Alright, I'll leave you two alone," Melanie said.

"Wait," Jack stopped her. "You're her sister and she loves you a lot. I want you to see this," Jack continued.

Both Melanie and Katherine were lost and confused.

Then, Jack went down on one knee. He took a tiny blue box out of his pocket and opened it.

People around them gasped, including Melanie.

"You'll never know dear, how much I love you," he sang.

Katherine began crying.

"Katherine Maria Willow, will you marry me?" Jack popped the question.

"Yes…" Katherine answered as guests clapped.

Jack stood up and hugged his fiancée.

"It's your turn to continue the song," he whispered.

"No way," she whispered back and laughed.

Katherine looked at herself in the mirror in her elegant and beautiful long, white, silk dress and her hair, nicely curled and half tied. Her wedding veil was just the right length.

Melanie stood beside her in an emerald green bridesmaid's dress.

"This is it, Mel. I'm walking down that aisle soon and spending my life with that man," Katherine said.

Melanie handed over the bouquet of blood red roses to her sister.

"I'm so proud of you," Melanie said.

Katherine smiled as her eye started tearing up.

Then, their father came in.

"Ready?" he said.

Katherine nodded as she walked towards her dad.

"People, I would like to make a toast!" Melanie yelled at the noisy crowd of people who were celebrating Katherine and Jack's marriage.

Everyone fell silent and looked at her.

"To the bride, who is my sister Katherine, and Jack. May you have a happy life together!" Melanie raised her glass of red wine, then drank it as guests applauded.

It was the wedding dinner party. Everyone was having their good time.

Melanie felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around to see Katherine with Jack.

"Hey newlyweds," she said.

Katherine and Jack laughed.

"Mel, Jack and I are going to go home first, alright?" Katherine said.

"What? The night is still young!" Melanie replied.

"No, we're kind of tired," Katherine answered.

"Well, alright. Bye then," Melanie smiled as Katherine and Jack left.

Minutes after that, one of the guests ran towards Melanie like there was something urgent.

"It's Katherine and Jack! They've got into an accident at the junction!" he said.

"What?!" Melanie gasped and quickly ran out with the guy.

Some people were already outside by the time Melanie was there.

"I've called the ambulance," the guy said.

Melanie's mouth dropped open as she slowly walked towards the crash. She wanted to run the car which Katherine and Jack were in which was now smash by the truck, but her father stopped her.

Melanie started crying.

Meanwhile, Katherine and Jack were trapped at the backseat of the car. The driver in front was also trapped.

"Ja… Jack…" Katherine said in a cracked voice.

She opened her eyes slowly but her vision was blurry. Her head was bleeding. She felt a body on top of her. Jack.

"Jack?" Katherine said softly while lying down on the hospital bed.

"Katherine?" Melanie said, holding her sister's hand tight.

"Where's Jack?" Katherine tried getting up.

"Honey, be still," her father said.

"Where's Jack?" Katherine asked again.

Melanie looked at her father, then at Katherine. Tears fell from her eyes.

"I'm sorry, Katherine…He… He died. We were told you survived the crash because his body was shielding yours…" Melanie broke the news to her sister.

"No…He can't be dead…But I'm in love and I just got married to him…" Katherine said softly and started crying.

Her father hugged her, but she pushed him away.

"No! You're lying! You're both lying to me! Jack's alright! Jack's fine!" Katherine yelled.

"Get out! Get out! Both of you! I don't want to hear it! Leave me alone!" Katherine yelled again.

Melanie and her father walked out of the room.

"He can't be dead…" Katherine cried to herself.

"So please don't take my sunshine away…" she sang.

"Where's Jack?" Katherine, who was now twenty-four, turned to Melanie and asked.

"Katherine," she said, wiping her tears from her face.

"Mel, why are you crying?" Katherine asked.

"Oh, nothing," she said.

"So where's Jack?" Katherine asked again.

Melanie stood up and went over to Katherine. She held Katherine by her hands, trying hard to not cry.

"Did you forget? He's on a business trip. He'll be home soon," Melanie answered.

"Oh," Katherine said and smiled.

Then, Vince, Melanie's fiancé, stood at the doorway with his hands in his pocket. Melanie smiled at him.

"Katherine, you rest now. I have things to do," Melanie said and went to Vince.

As they walked down the hallway of the mental institution, Vince held Melanie's hand tight as Melanie cried.

"It kills me to see her that way," she said.

"I know, baby. I know," he answered.

"I hate having to lie to her all the time. She's so traumatized by that incident. Vince, I hate leaving her here. She doesn't even know dad died…" she said.

Vince hugged Melanie tight. Then, they left the mental institution.

Meanwhile, Katherine sat in her room, staring out the window, waiting for Jack to return…
