Any Other Way

by, Cassandra

Look into the mirror;
do you see me in your eyes?
That little glint of anger
that you just cannot disguise.
You write me out everyday
into these fiction characters,
and yet you can't accept the truth.
I am as real as you.

You know you cannot deny
that you feel me deep inside,
trying (not failing) to overtake your mind;
to show you that there's so much more
then this life you chose to lead.
Can't you feel the pull?
The dark side needs you now
and no longer can you fight.

It's a freedom undefined
and a world so unrefined.
You can't help but fall in love
with the lure of thoughts unvoiced.
You don't have to be scared anymore.
This world, this life, is yours
(but you really have no say)
and you'll thank me one day.

We were both being suffocated
living in that 2-D world.
We need more then paper dreams
to keep this smile on our face.
Sunshine may be nice
but it doesn't fill the void.
And, no, this isn't giving up.
There's so much we deserve.

You can't refute this hunger
that's tearing at your mind.
It's time to take this step
and find your voice inside.
There's no need to hide,
not anymore; this is our time
and we're going to fly
and make all our dreams come true.

Too bad that they can't see
and refuse to understand
the beauty that can be
in the darkness of the shadows.
Not everything is black and white.
Not everything is hot and cold.
And that's the way it has to be
and I wouldn't want it any other way.
