heart of darkness

you, who have traveled to the heart
of darkness and back again;
you, who have seen that that light which is not golden
that jungle which is not welcoming
tell me—where does the blackness lie?

walk back through the darkness
tell me what you've seen
and heard
take me—
for i want to go.

hide me in your midnight cloak
take me on a journey to a strange new world
show me beauty—
raw, horrid beauty that is too hard to be touched.
i want to see life.

take me there—
where all is black
and still as night
and shrouded with mist and dark shadows.

take me with you
to the heart of darkness
and there
we will find
that beauty
that cold, barren beauty
that is the jungle
and the night.
