Once they were outside the kite shop. Tom locked up the front door, and checked to see if it was securely locked. Then he switched the Open sign with the closed sign on the front window. After that they walked across the two lane street to stand in the long line to get into the fortune teller shop. The people that were coming out of the fortune teller shop had an arrange of emotions on their faces, some were surprised and happy while others looked nervous and scared. As Tom and Heidi inched their way to the front of the line, it began to rain lightly and then it started to pour.

"Maybe we should come back tomorrow?" Heidi said worried as she looked up at the sky. Tom could barely understand her because her voice was being diluted by the sound of all the rain and thunder.

"Nah, this is actually a good thing because some people in the line are trying to find cover from all of this. We will be in the shop in no time." Tom said loudly trying to overcome the sound of the rain

Tom was right, about half of the line scattered away to fine shelter. It only took about 2 minutes to be inside of the small shop. Even though they were covered in rain, they both found comfort in that the argument about the fortune teller shop would be over soon. They were finally at the front counter.

The Counter lady said a greeting in Chinese to them both. Then she pointed to a sign with the price for getting your fortune told. Heidi searched for the money from her pocket, but only pulled out some loose change. "I must have left my purse in the shop, let me rush over there and get it." Heidi said depressed. "Don't worry about it" Tom said as he put the correct amount of money on the table. "Thanks a bunch. That would have wasted a lot of time." Heidi replied. "No problem, it's worth it knowing that our argument will be over soon" The Counter lady said something in Chinese to Heidi, Heidi responded and the Counter lady nodded back and pointed to the back room. "She asked which one of us will be getting the fortune. I said I will" Heidi said before tom could ask.

The back room was less eventful then Tom thought. It was a small room, with no decorations to make it seem like it had any importance. All it had was a small table in the middle and on that table laid the famous orb. The lady said something in Chinese just to Heidi, because by now she had noticed Tom was not fluent.

"She says I have to touch the orb, and then the orb will make letter appear to float to the surface until they are noticeable" Heidi exclaimed. The counter lady scooted back to the wall as if she didn't want to evade their privacy.

"Well what are you waiting for?" Tom said as he looked Heidi straight in the eyes.

"Here goes nothing." Heidi murmured as she herself than touched the orb.

The second she had touched the orb words had begun to arise from what looked like inside the orb. As soon as the letters appeared Heidi began to read them.

"Well that was easy. What did it say Heidi?" Tom said curiously. But Heidi's face looked flushed.

"O yea real funny" Tom said laughing. But Heidi's face was still flushed. She looked very nervous.

"Ok this isn't funny anymore, what did the orb say?" Tom said anxiously.

"I need to get out of here, now" said Heidi in an impatient voice, but before Tom could reply she started to run out of the backroom and into the lobby.

"Where are you going so quickly?" Tom said yelling after her. Soon they were both running outside in the storm, Tom only a few yards behind her. Heidi just kept on running; Tom had never seen her act so strangely. It looked like Heidi didn't care where she was, all she knew was that she had to keep running. As Heidi ran across the street Tom screamed "Wait, NO!!"

There was a loud screech of tire to pavement and then Heidi lay motionless on the street. Tom rushed over to her as fast as he could. He checked her vital signs, her heart had stopped. Tom immediately began to perform CPR. A large crowd had begun to assemble around Tom and Heidi. There was a lot of commotion but Tom Couldn't understand what they were saying and neither did he care, all he cared about was Heidi. He performed CPR for 3 minutes. After knowing it was too late he began to sulk over Heidi's blood drenched body but the cry was muffled by the sound of pouring rain.

Grandfather's job as a janitor.

(This is about Heidi's grandfather when he was a teenager and a janitor at the shop)

(All thoughts and speech are actually in Chinese)

(Heidi's grandfather's name is Simon)

"I can't believe I signed up for this job" Simon thought to himself stubbornly. "I could have just worked at my dad's farm, but I wanted to go to the city. Ha, the city isn't that great anyway!"

This was Simon's first day on the job as a janitor at the fortune teller shop.

"Sweep, Sweep and Sweep is all I do it seems like" Simon muttered to himself sweeping the dull floors. "Well at least there is one benefit of this job! Simon said as he looked at the fancy orb that lay on the table in the room he was sweeping. "I might have followed their dumb little rules if they would have paid me more!" Simon thought as he dropped his broom and ran over to the orb.

Simon stood and just admired the orb for a few minutes. "This is going to be fun" he thought as he touched the orb. Immediately words floated up to the surface of the orb. The orb read "Be watchful over your granddaughter august 27 2017" "What kind of dumb reading is that!" Simon said disappointed. "That's not in another 60 years!" Simon impatiently touched the orb again. This time the orb said. "You will get married to the person you hate the most" "Hmm I wonder who that could be" Simon thought. Simon again touched the orb. This time the orb said "You will never get a prediction again from me" "You want to bet?" Simon commented out loud, as he was about to touch the orb again for a fourth time. Just as he was about to the owner of the shop opened the door to the backroom and said "You are fired, I can't believe that you would break the number 1 rule on the first day!" yelled the shop owner. "Hey I was bored" remarked Simon.

The Orb was right about him becoming married to the person he hated most, it was a girl at school who was always mean to him, but after he read the prediction she had become very nice to him. He had one kid with her, who would become Heidi's Dad

(Heidi's first prediction)

(Set when Heidi is a kid)

(In Chinese)

"Daddy I'm scared!" Heidi screamed when she and her dad were entering the room with the orb.

"There's nothing to be afraid about dear. All you have to do is place your hand on the orb and a prediction will be made. Heidi's dad said reassuring." "I've done it and everything turned out just fine. I'm sure your prediction will be a good one"

"But I can't even reach it" Heidi replied to her dad as she looked up at the tall table with the orb on it.

"Here I will give you a lift" Heidi's dad said as he picked Heidi up and positioned her close enough to the orb.

"Dad no peeking!" Heidi said to her dad as she began to touch the orb. "Alright, alright jeez." Heidi's dad murmured.

After she touched the orb, like her dad had promised, words began to float to the surface. The orb read "You will fall in love with an American living in this town."

Heidi was then lowered down and her dad asked what did the orb say, she replied happily "I'm gonna have a boyfriend!!

(Heidi's point of view in the fortune teller shop with tom day of the accident)

(Only the counter lady and Heidi talk in Chinese)

Heidi was so excited as she entered the back room with Tom. The room had not changed in all these years from her first prediction. The Counter lady said in Chinese "you have to touch the orb, and then the orb will make letter appear to float to the surface until they are noticeable."

After explaining what the counter lady said to Tom in English. Tom said" Well what are you waiting for?" as he looked Heidi straight in the eyes.

"Here goes nothing." Heidi murmured as she herself than touched the orb.

The second she had touched the orb words had begun to arise from what looked like inside the orb. As soon as the letters appeared Heidi began to read them. The orb read "something terrible is about to happen to your grandfather"

Heidi needed to find her grandfather before it was too late. It was one of two things she cared about in her life, the other one being Tom. She rushed across the street in the pouring rain to her grandfather's house, but unfortunately a speeding car could not see her due to the rain and hit her dead on, her heart had stopped. Tom tried to give CPR but it was too late, she was dead.

(Heidi's grandfather point of view day of the accident)

(Speech and thoughts in Chinese)

"Good bye grandfather have a nice day, see you tonight" Heidi said as she closed the front door of the small house. As Heidi said this Simon decided to take his nap earlier, and went to bed when she left.

Simon is more mature than he was back in his younger days. His hair has grown gray and almost disappeared. The wrinkles were crippling his body, He was old now. Barely ever leaving the house, the only reason he sometimes did was to take a midnight stroll by himself, and look at the moons and the stars. He really did Love Heidi with all of his heart. She was the only thing left to him.

He awoke 5 hours later, slowly got up and walked over to the couch, where he comfortably positioned himself. As he was flipping through the channels, he landed on the News channel and decided to watch. "Maybe something interesting happened to day" He reminded himself as he watched.

The news was on the weather saying that it would become dark and stormy in about a half an hour. Then the news went on to say the famous people that died on this day, But then in the lower right corner of his screen, he saw something he thought he would never see again, August 27 2017-Today's Date. He jumped up and quickly walked to his calendar to double check. He was stunned to find that today was in fact August 27 2017. "No!!!, the day I have been worrying about for half my life and I forget about it!! He thought to himself.

He rushed over to his phone and called Heidi's cell phone, however Heidi didn't pick up which was kind of strange because she always picked it up. He decided his only option was to drive to where she worked, which he had only been shown once by her. He hopped into his old car in his garage. Stepped on the gas and rushed over to Heidi's work place. He could barely see as it was raining steadily hard, and being old didn't help.

He was about a block away from Heidi's Workplace. He stepped on the gas, but didn't notice the woman in front of him. He hit her dead on, and then he slammed into a light post with a bike attached to it, He barely got out of the vehicle when he suddenly had a severe heart attack led on by all of the stress around him. He died under the cold and unforgiving rain.
