A/N: READ THIS FIRST! Ok, so it's been umm...hehe forever? Well, I started this story for NaNoWriMo last year and stopped because of writer's block that never went away. Well, it's NaNoWriMo time again and I decided to pick this story back up where I left off. The first couple pages of this chapter were written last November and the rest was written today. So *shrug*.

Chapter 4

The bell rang and everyone filed out of class. Kailey took a deep breath and glanced at Shadow who smiled and winked. It took her years to finally tell Ashley and Andrew about her powers and here she was going to show a complete stranger. What was going through her head? Shadow led her to his locker while they waited. Shadow pleaded to Zoey in thoughts that they all needed to meet him. About a minute later, the rest of the group showed up. He smiled at her and she returned the smile.

"Hey Kailey," Zoey grinned. All Kailey could do was nod. She was too busy having a silent war inside her head to really say anything. Zoey listened in on her constant struggle in her mind. Kaydence had a slight shiver run down her spine at the feeling at how scared Kailey was. "So Shadow, what did you want?"

"Oh. You know. Don't even pretend babe," he smirked. "Come on Kailey, we have to go to the river for us to show you you're not alone." Kailey's head shot up and studied him for a moment. She pursed her lips and nodded. She'd have to walk home anyway and her parents wouldn't care if she was gone for a couple of hours. She took a deep breath as she followed Shadow, Zoey, Zander, and Kaydence. She decided to get in the car with Zoey and Kaydence. Whenever she was around them she always seemed to calm down from her nervousness. It was weird but she liked the feeling. Shadow and Zander took their own cars.

Kailey plopped into the backseat of Zoey's four door vehicle while Kaydence took the passenger seat. Kailey stared out the window and saw that the sky was still filled with grey clouds. She could tell there was going to be a storm or at least it was going to rain. She sighed and turned away from the depressing sight in front of her. She couldn't believe what she was about to do. It took her years to tell her best friends but then she was showing a bunch of strangers? It didn't add up. But they kept telling her that she wasn't alone. But she never did understand what they meant by that.

The car pulled to a stop and Zoey turned around in her seat. "We're here," she smiled. A feeling of uneasiness washed over Kailey but was immediately gone. She stepped out of the car just as the boys pulled up in their own cars. Shadow stepped out of his car and Kailey couldn't help but sigh dreamily as she admired his good looks. All of which didn't go unnoticed by Kaydence.

"Did you totally feel the vibe?" she whispered to Zoey. She smirked.

"No, but I heard her thoughts. And she definitely thinks he's hot," she whispered back in laughs. "Alright guys, what are we doing?"

"Well, Kailey was just about to show us her special talents. Correct?" Shadow grinned. Kailey shifted uncomfortably on her feet. She looked up to see everyone was staring at her intensely.

"I don't know about this," she finally spoke.

"Kailey, it's alright. We're all special here. There's no need to hide anything," Zoey said reassuringly. There they were. Going around in circles again. Kailey sighed as her battle was coming to an end. She could show them or she could just walk away. She looked at each of their faces and stared into their eyes. She pursed her lips and said, "Fine." She stepped in front of everybody and sighed once more.

She studied their faces as she prepared herself. They were filled with complete anticipation. She couldn't help but smile which confused almost everybody. They were so curious and anxious and she found it funny. She snapped her fingers and a white/ bluish flash filled their eyes for a mere second. In her hand was a candy bar. All of them stared at her confused. She tossed the food on the floor and snapped her fingers again and in her hands was a purse. Shadow smirked.

"Can you conjure up condoms too?" he grinned. Kailey let out a small laugh and nodded. She snapped her fingers and condoms appeared in her hands. She threw them at Shadow. "COOL! What else can you do?"

"Does anyone have a hat?" she asked. Everyone shook her head and she sighed. "Fine then I guess I'll have to conjure one up." She snapped her fingers and a plain black hat appeared in her hands. She set it on the ground and stared intensely at it. Soon, the hat lifted up into the air and steadily flew to the top of Shadow's head. His mouth dropped and she smirked. "Telekinesis."

"Marry me," Shadow breathed. Kailey giggled and blushed slightly.

"So, what are your talents?" she asked. Shadow smirked.

"I'm a sex god. That's all," he said popping his collar. All of them except Kailey raised an eyebrow at him with disbelieving looks on their faces. "Ok. I am but that's not my power. Here. Watch this." Shadow placed the hat on the ground and stared at it for a few seconds. Suddenly, the hat was in the air and was placed atop Kailey's head. Her mouth dropped in complete shock.

"Oh my god. You have telekinesis too?!" she grinned. He shook his head at her.

"Sometimes." She furrowed her eyebrows at him in complete confusion.

"What do you mean sometimes?" she asked with her eyes narrowed. He grinned.

"I'm a mimic. I can copy anybody's power. I just have to see it first. I'd like a power of my own but I got what I got," he said shrugging his shoulders. She smiled and turned to the rest of the group.

"So what can everyone else do?" Kailey asked. Kaydence smiled and stepped forward.

"Well, I can sense people's emotions and can calm them down or make them feel something. Except for love. I can't make that happen. And I can also tell who's one of us," she giggled. Kailey pondered this in her mind. Suddenly, things started to make sense; her sudden calmness, how all of her troubles seemed to wash away. It was Kaydence the whole time. Zoey decided to step forward.

"I'm a mind reader. I can read people's thoughts and can communicate through thoughts too," Zoey said with a smile. Shadow snorted.

"Yeah. Which you use more than you should," he scoffed. Zoey narrowed her eyes at him in which he responded by sticking his tongue out at her. Zander rolled his eyes and pushed Shadow aside.

"My power is premonition. I can see visions," he said seriously. Kailey nodded. All of this suddenly seemed to be too unreal. How could she and any other person have powers? Was it all a load of bull? And even if it were true, what was the point? What was their…purpose? All of these questions floated around her head and whenever these questions gave her an uneasy feeling they drifted away. She knew it was Kaydence's doing but it still kind of surprised her. This was all so new to her. She never imagined in a million years she'd find someone like her.

"So, Mrs. Shadow, how are you?" Shadow inquired while stepping forward. She rolled her eyes and smiled.

"I never agreed to marry you," she retorted. Shadow smirked and stroked her hair.

"But you never disagreed, silly goose," he laughed. He placed his hands on her waist and suddenly, his face lit up. "OH MY GOSH! I have the best idea ever!" Everyone stared at him confused but Zoey.

"Um, Shadow? Are you sure about this?" Zoey piped up. He waved a hand at her worry. Kailey looked at the two of them confused. She had no idea what was going on but she wish she did. "Sorry, Kailey. Shadow was thinking of trying his telekinesis on you."

"On me?"

"Yea! It'll be really cool. Besides, I doubt anything bad could happen," he said excitedly. Kailey turned to Zander.

"I haven't heard of this before so I don't know if this will turn out bad," he said with a shrug. Kailey rolled her eyes.

"Says the guy who can see the future," she muttered. Shadow laughed and wrapped an arm around her.

"Have I mentioned how much I like her? Cause I so do!"

"Shadow, just get on with it. This is nerve-wracking. I doubt even Kaydence could help," Zoey spat. Kaydence sighed.

"I'm a nervous wreck too. So I'm no help."

Shadow stepped back and smiled a toothy grin at Kailey. He raised his eyebrows at her as if asking if she was sure. Kailey nodded and took a deep breath. What could possibly go wrong, she thought. Shadow stood there in complete concentration. His eyebrows furrowed together and his eyes squinted. Kailey glanced at his fists. They were clenched so hard his knuckles had turned white. Her eyes trailed up the rest of his body and her mouth dropped open when she realized he was shaking. She was about to move towards him when she saw Zander shake his head out of the corner of her eye.

She suddenly felt a strange sensation come over her. She glanced down and her eyes widened immensely when she saw her feet were no longer touching the ground. She slowly grew higher and higher until she was about four feet off the ground. Laughter escaped her throat and she glanced around to see almost everyone smiling. Shadow was still concentrating. Slowly, his face started to relax and within a minute he was smiling too.

"Shadow! You did it! You did i-" Kailey suddenly dropped. She let out a piercing scream as she felt something in her leg crack. Everyone rushed towards her but Shadow was there in a heartbeat. She cried out in pain and stirred on the ground.

"Oh my god! Kailey! Are you ok?" Shadow asked as he stroked her face. He took her crying as a no. Zander moved over to her ankle and touched it lightly. Another piercing scream escaped her mouth.

"I thi-thi-think it's br-bro-br-broken!" she whimpered. Tears built up in Shadow's eyes. "I'm so sorry, Shadow! I should have n-n-ne-never bro-broken your concentra- OUCH!" Zander let out an apology.

"No. This isn't your fault, Kailey. It was all of mine. I should have known no good could come from this. Especially since this power is so new to me," he whispered in her ear. She sobbed as the pain never left her leg.

"We have to get her to the hospital," Zander said standing up.

"So, what happened again?" the doctor asked, quirking an eyebrow up at the young teen. Kailey sniffled and then opened her mouth to speak.

"I was trying to climb a tree and I slipped and fell," she answered. The doctor 'hmm'ed.

"Why were you climbing a tree?" she took off her glasses to study Kailey. She sighed.

"I did it to prove I could. I said I could climb one and my friends didn't believe me so to prove them wrong I tried. And failed miserably."

The doctor nodded again and said, "Well, please don't do it again. Your leg will be fine. It should heal fairly soon; within the year. I'll get your friends to help you out."

Kailey sat still and waited for them to come inside. She sighed as she looked down at the cast around her leg. Being gone for a couple of hours was one thing. Coming home with a broken ankle was another thing. She was going to be grounded for life. Or they might even send her to live with some distant relative she didn't know. Either way she was screwed.

"Kailey! How are you holding up?" Shadow asked as he stepped in. She shrugged.

"Other than the fact my leg is broken, I'm a dead woman. My parents will kill me if they see me like this!" she replied as she rubbed her forehead. Shadow grinned.

"I have another idea!" he exclaimed. Everyone gaped at him. "I swear! This won't hurt her again. Come to my place."

"Shadow, I swear. If you hurt this poor girl again I will murder you," Zoey said with a huff. He scoffed at her.

"With what?"

"I will flood memories into your brain. Unpleasant, girl memories!" His face fell as he looked back at her.

"You wouldn't," he gasped. Zoey crossed her arms and smirked.

"I so would."

A/N: I know the quality is kind of sucky but NaNoWriMo isn't about quality...it's getting the story finished. So forgive me if some of this chapter seems weak. Once this story is finished I will probably do some major editing. And then I'll post the revised version. Anyways, REVIEW PWEASE!
