Monica finished the touches on the wrapping paper and sighed in relief. Finding Aidon's present would have been easier if he would have given her any kind of clue to what he would want, but of course he didn't know. She just sighed and hoped the "Royal Bicolor Pseduochromis", as the man at the fish store said, would live until tomorrow. It was a cute little fish, half purple and half yellow. She had gotten the idea when after most of his family had left, Aidon took her to show her his aquarium. Most people didn't know he liked fish, but he had a lot of them. The other half of her gift had also struck her that day, they had taken pictures together and after wards Monica got them developed and stuck her favorite in a frame. She had wrapped it in red paper. She really hoped he was going to like it. She sighed again. Yesterday had been the last day of school before Christmas break and since Christmas was a family thing and her grandmother was down for awhile, they agreed to exchange gifts a few days before Christmas. Monica fretted, she hated not knowing if he was going to like it or not. She sighed loudly and got up off of her bedroom floor and put the wrapping paper away and laid the gifts on her end table, then flopped down on the bed. She let her mind wander to when he showed her his aquarium.

"You know, I haven't shown this to anyone else. Well, except Dani in like the third grade, but I doubt she remembers." He laughed

"They're such pretty fish!" Monica exclaimed.

"Thanks. I think the oldest one I have is Lexa" he said, pointing to a brightly colored fish.

"Well nice to meet you Lexa." she said to the fish, placing her fingers on the glass. The fish stopped and looked at her fingers for a second, then swam off. She laughed a little

"I think she likes you." He said laughing.

"I hope so" Monica said. He was staring at the fish serenely. "You really like them, don't you??" He turned to look at her

"Yeah, I actually almost envy them, I mean, how amazing would it be to be able to breathe underwater without any kind of gear, you know? How free that would feel, how exhilarating," he sighed "I've always found the water and the fish calming, just watching them swim…" he trailed off and blushed "I'm sorry, you must think I'm terribly silly"

"No, I don't think you're silly at all" Monica told him "I think it's really neat actually" she laughed.

"Really?" he asked her.

"Yeah, I mean how many people would look at fish and see something so beautiful the way you do?" she touched his cheek. He smiled at her, opening his mouth to say something, then changed his mind. Instead he just smiled at her and pulled her into his chest.

Monica smiled at the memory, it was one of those times where she had gotten to see a different side of Aidon, the side that no one else got to see, and that always made her feel special, that he trusted her so much to show her his aquarium. She pulled the covers up over her and turned off her lamp, plunging the room into darkness. Monica had been having a hard time sleeping ever since Dani's Halloween party. Something just seemed off when Aidon's arms weren't there to hold her tight and it seemed to quiet and uncertain without his breath ghosting across her skin and just plain wrong that his heart beat wasn't thudding softly against her back. So, she was forced to manage without, something she'd rather not have to do. Her radio was playing softly in the background, and an old song came on, one she had forgotten she even owned. A soft male vocal washed over her and lulled her

I'll be your dream, I'll be your wish, I'll be your fantasy.
I'll be your hope, I'll be your love, be everything that you need.
I love you more with every breath, truly madly deeply do..
I will be strong I will be faithful, 'cos I'm counting on a new beginning.
A reason for living, a deeper meaning.
I want to stand with you on a mountain.
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever.
Until the sky falls down on me...

When the daylight streaming through the window woke her the next morning, Monica hadn't even realized she'd fallen asleep. She stretched and looked at her clock. It read 10:00. She rolled over and tried to remember the dream she'd been having, it had had something to do with a falling star, but the details were escaping her. She shrugged mentally and crawled out of bed. She stumbled downstairs and into the kitchen where she stopped dead. Sitting at her kitchen table was Aidon, chatting with her father.

"Oh, you're up." He said laughing, "I was going to come up and wake you up in a few minutes if you didn't come down" Monica was almost speechless

"You're… here… early" she managed to choke out. He laughed

"Happy to see me?" he asked arching an eyebrow

"Well, yes… but I'm not even dressed" she said, motioning to her pajamas, which consisted of a pair of shorts and a tank top. He shrugged

"You have clothes on."

"Yeah, the ones I slept in" she walked over to the refrigerator and opened it and poured herself a glass of orange juice. He laughed but ignored her statement

"I have your gift" It was almost sheepishly that he said it.

"Yours is upstairs, if you'll give me a minute to go and get it and get dressed." He nodded and Monica traipsed back upstairs to get into some halfway decent clothes. She picked out a pair of jeans and a light green tee-shirt and grabbed his presents off of the table. While she was upstairs her father had left for work and her mother hadn't made an appearance from her study yet. She sat down at the table.

"I don't see why it mattered so much that you were in your pajamas," he told her "I thought you looked nice in them" she stuck her tongue out at him.

"Well thanks." They laughed then.

"Well, ummm…. I really hope you like it" Aidon said and handed her a bag. Monica smiled at him and opened it up. She squealed delightedly. Inside it was a stuffed panda bear, and a single red rose and a small bag. She reached in and pulled out the bag and opened it. Out she pulled a necklace with Aidon's class ring on it. She smiled brightly and slipped it on, fingering the metal contently and placing the panda bear on her lap.

"I love it!" she told happily. Then she blushed and pushed the wrapped gifts across the table at him. "I… hope its okay…" she said. Aidon took one of the packages curiously and opened it, his face brightening hugely.

"You got me a fish?" he asked excitedly, and obviously she had, as he was looking it over in its little container, swimming around happily.

"Yes," she told him. "The man at the fish store said it was a Royal Bicolor Pseduochromis… I hope I pronounced that right" she said laughingly, totally relaxed at the look of sheer excitement on his face. He beamed

"I think you did. That is the best gift I've ever gotten" he leaned across the table and kissed her.

"You haven't even opened the other half yet." She told him, and he laughed. He ripped off the wrapping paper and stared down at it, his smile getting even bigger, if that's possible.

"It's amazing" he told her, fingering the silver picture frame, their picture inside of it, sitting next to one another in front of his fish tank, smiling goofily up at the camera.

"So what are you going to name the fish?" she asked, very pleased.

"Ummm… Amethyst, because of the color" he said proudly. Monica laughed.

"I'm really glad you like it, I was afraid you wouldn't."

"Why wouldn't I?" he said "I think Amethyst is going to fit right in with the other fish in the tank" he smiled and leaned over and kissed Monica once more. "Thank you so much my Angel"

"You're welcome, my prince" He looked at her.

"Prince…" he said, mulling the word over. Monica turned bright red "I like it" he said, and kissed her again. "You know, I think that's even better than the other two gifts" he beamed at her. She smiled at him, blushing a crimson color. "You're cute when you blush" he told her and stood and scooped her into his arms and cuddled her close to him. She giggled and he spun her around quickly and stole another kiss. Once again he opened his mouth, as if to say something to her, but shut it again and just smiled.

"What?" Monica asked him.

"Huh?" He said, distractedly.

"What were you going to say?" she asked

"Oh, nothing…" he said

"Okkkay then" she said, laughing and throwing her arms around his neck. "I'm really glad you like it." He smiled at her,

"I really do. So, what do you want to do for the rest of the day?" he asked her.

"Well… we could make some popcorn and pop in a movie for now if you want" she said.

"I think that sounds wonderful, my angel" She beamed at him

"You know, I love it when you call me that" he laughed

"Yeah, I know hun" he said. He put her down and she walked downstairs into their den and rifled through their DVD rack.

"What do you want to watch?" she asked him. He shrugged

"I don't really care" he told her.

"Okay, well then you're going to be completely at mercy to my choosing methods" she warned him. He laughed

" I think I can live with that"

"Alright then" she said and closed her eyes, reached out and plucked a movie off the shelf at random and handed it to Aidon. "Okay, what are we watching?" she asked him. He laughed out loud before he told her

"The Matrix" she laughed too.

"Okay, pop it in then, and I'll go make some popcorn" she told him, pointing to the DVD player under the television. He smiled

"Okay hun." She went back upstairs, opening the door and went into the kitchen. She took the gifts and arranged them nicely at the end of the table where no one ever sat and then rummaged through the cupboards until she found the popcorn. She popped it into the microwave and hit the popcorn button. While the popcorn spun round and round in the microwave Monica went over to the kitchen sink and opened the cupboard door below it and searched around for a vase. Upon finding one she went over to the kitchen table and placed the single red rose in it. Smiling, she took the rose and the vase upstairs to her bedroom and placed it on her nightstand next to her bed, smiling at the gift and then walked back downstairs to wait for the popcorn to be finished. After dumping it into a bowl, Monica went back into the den and found Aidon sitting on the couch waiting for her

"You know, it's been years since I've watched this movie" he told her, laughing.

"Sadly, same here, we own it, but we don't watch it all that often." She sat down next to him on the sofa and he pressed the play button. She curled up on the couch next to him and they munched on the popcorn for the first quarter of the movie. When they had finally finished the popcorn, Monica was very happy to just be sitting next to him, his arm around her waist.

"Hey hun, you want to lie down?" she asked him. He smiled at her

"Sure" he said, and stretched himself out on the couch, and then Monica did the same, contouring her body to fit right beside his. She sighed happily and settled back into watching the movie, however it wasn't long before Monica was fighting off the drowsiness her recent lack of sleep had bestowed upon her. And between one fight scene and the next, Monica drifted off to sleep.

Aidon glanced down at his girlfriends sleeping form, smiling slightly. 'Looks like she hasn't been sleeping well either.' He sighed, she was so beautiful when she slept, just like an angel. He tenderly brushed a stray strand of hair from her face, and then wrapped his arms around her and yawned. Resting his eyes wouldn't hurt a little, would it? And before Aidon knew it, his eyes had closed and he was sleeping just as soundly as Monica was.

Neither of them knew it, but later in the day, Monica's mother came down into the den to see what they were up to, and smiled when she seen them sleeping on the couch during The Matrix. She pulled an afghan off of the other sofa and draped it over their sleeping forms, causing Monica to mumble and stir slightly. Half an hour later, when Monica opened her eyes, she noticed the blanket and sighed contently, knowing her mother must have put it there. Smiling, she drifted back off into sleep curled up in Aidon's protective arms.

Okay, well about the football game, I'm part of the band and I've noticed they don't get mad at you as long as you're screaming about football, it's when it's not about football they get irritated, something about interrupting the game or something like that. Ha-ha, personal experience *shifty eyes*. Okay, well I'm REALLY glad you like it, all mushyness included. I hope you enjoyed this chapter immensely then!! Thanks for reading!! :D

ShatteredLoveBrokenDreams: Why thank you! It's nice to know you think they're great together!! Sometimes I worry they're too deep to be realistic, but it's good to know I'm doing a good job!! Ah-ha… Mitchell and Tommy are my two favorite characters to write, but I'm pretty sure that went without saying. *snickers*. Yes, you spelled Amie's name right, and woot, I'm glad you liked it!! :D xDD Roxxii and Mitchell are my favorite couple, and thanks for saying they go together nicely, I guess what they say is true in this case, opposites attract! And thanks, I swear if I ever were to have a baby girl (which won't happen, cause I don't want kids, but…) I would name her Roxxii and spell it like that! xDD! Awww… you are too sweet, you're gonna make me blush or something!! Okay, well I hope you enjoyed then how she called him that in this chapter, I've been trying to figure out how she was going to slip that in there, but this chapter it just felt right. Ha-ha. Ahhh yes, denial, denial, denial… honestly, so far my personal favorite chapter to write has been sixteen, when they first kiss, but I'm feeling a new favorite coming up soon… maybe… but I'll just have to leave you all guessing why for now, although you may be able to figure it out. And yeah, I always thought their silly awkwardness was cute. xDD. *snickers* Would you believe I stole the tongue question from my boyfriend? However I told him I wasn't going to use it… xDD, well probably more info than you wanted but.. ahh well. :D Oh, and by the way, I think Kira is a gorgeous name, I love smiley faces too, I've only been to Kentucky once, I'm secretly a hopeless romantic at heart as well, and once, when I was five or six, I decided it would be a good idea to run around the house with my eyes closed, until I ran smack dab into a corner. I still have the scar from THAT incident, though it's mostly faded now. xDD!! I'm really glad you told me about you, you're the first and only so far, and it's really nice to get to know my readers!! :D Hehe, I'm really glad you like my story… like super glad actually.
