To Die Young
The death throes of immortal men,
all heat and clinging in the air.
We could say we never knew
that everything would end this way,
but that would be a lie
for we had planned the whole affair.
Those boys we loved all gone to waste,
were only immortal in their heads.
We lied and told them it was true
and not one of them believed us,
but it didn't stop them,
not a one.
All dead in glory, god, and country,
mere boys, now gone forever.
