The campus of Morris Academy looked the same to Nora as it did in her fathers faded pictures, which dated back more than 30 years. The grass seemed too green, the students too pulled together. The old red brick buildings felt almost like caricatures of what boarding school was to Nora. A loud bell went off across campus. Nora looked up to see a large clock tower on top of the building across the quad from her. The bronze moon and star inlayed in bronze in the large timepiece surprised Nora who had expected a more traditional, Big Ben styled clock. The bell continued to ring eleven more times. "Fuck," Nora said, picking up her overstuffed Louis Vuitton duffel bag and rapidly running up the stairs to her new dorm. It was on the third floor of the newly renovated girls dorm. The narrow hallways still smelled of new paint.

If only Nora's parents had driven her, like normal, loving parents. Then she wouldn't have been 4 hours late. Then she wouldn't have had to carry her own bag. Then she wouldn't have had to say an emotional goodbye to the elderly driver that had completely forgotten to pick her up that morning, instead of mom and dad like all the other arriving students. No, Nora's dad had decided to ship her off to his alma-mater for her last two years of high school. The moment he got the alumni letter, which announced that for the first time in Morris Academy's 213 year history it would be accepting girls, he sent a check to the admissions office and began packing Nora's bags for her.

Twenty minutes late Nora found herself slipping into the last seat in the large Offstrof auditorium. It was the only modern building on the entire campus and stuck out like a knock off bag in the middle of the Upper East Side. "Late," the boy in the seat next to her hissed. Nora turned to see what arrogant jerk was bothering her. Like she needed another upset today. The boys messy blackish brown hair and deep dark brown eyes contrasted against his bright polo and khaki shirt. He looked as if he would be much more at home in a band tee and torn up jeans. Still, he was really attractive.

Nora pursed her lips, wishing she had thought to put on lipgloss. "So?" was the best come back she could think of.

The boys cocky smirk turned into a smile. "Well, you missed Headmaster Clark announcing that there will be a test on all the information he covers within this assembly. You know, as a new student, you might not want to start off the year on the wrong foot."

"How'd you know I was new?" Nora accused.

"Well, none of my previous classmates have looked so good in a mini skirt," he said, his eyes drifting casually to Nora's long legs.

Nora felt stupid, "Oh yea… I forgot. Well, what about you, don't you. Shouldn't you be paying attention so you don't fail this test?"

The boy laughed, running his fingers casually through his hair, "My teachers already know I'm an idiot."

A loud Shh Came from a teacher a few seats away. "sorry" Nora mouthed. Nora sat back in her seat. She didn't need to be getting in trouble on her first day. The boy just smirked again and sat back in his seat, turing his attention back to headmaster Clark.

There were so many rule. "Becoming a coed school has allowed us many more opportunities, educationally and beyond. With these new advantages come more responsibility. I hope you all have thoroughly read the newly revised handbook, if not I would recommend doing that. There will also be a list of the rules concerning dorm room behavior, campus behavior, and classroom behavior."

"There was a handbook?" Nora thought. Whoops.
