Thanks for the feedback; I couldn't wait to get this chapter up.

Girl//September 30th

Right now I'm in my Chemistry class, nervously chewing on the top of my pencil. I can't believe in front of me is a pop quiz. I was supposed to study my notes, but I wasted time thinking about that stupid boy.

Okay…which one of these chemical formulas is an ionic bond!? I sigh and look up at the front of the room towards the clock.

Twelve minutes to go before the bell rings.

I scribble down whatever I remembered and hope for the best. Then I start to imagine different romantic scenarios about the boy outside the coffee shop.

Scenario One:

He walks in and then he orders the caramel mocha latte with lots of whip cream. He gets some on his face, and then calls me over.

"Hey, how about you help me out here?" he says with a sexy smile, leaning in. Then we violently make-out in the stock room and we pretty much go from there.

Okay, it's official. I'm an in-closet pervert. No more late night romance movies for me.

The bell rings after a few more rated R thoughts, and I get my books and head to my locker. I had a free period before I went home, so I went to the school library to read some books.

I'm a true romantic at heart, so you can always find me in the romance section reading Nora Roberts or Danielle Steele. I suddenly hear someone call my name, and I turn around.

It's my friend Amanda.

"Hey, what's up?" she calls loudly. I tell her to be quiet and she rolls her eyes at me. She then pulls me over to a table in the back and grins.

"I applied for a job at the same coffee shop where you work, and they hired me! I told them I knew you and they said they could use a little more help in the back. We're going to be working together!" she said, rubbing her hands together. My mouth dropped open.

It's not that I didn't like Jessica, and she was one of the very few friends I had, but…

She's a bit outgoing in some ways. I'm quiet, she's loud. I'm shy, she's blunt. We're total opposites, and I guess that's why she likes me.

"What?" she asks, raising an eyebrow.

I shake my head and force a smile. "Nothing, that's great." I say, my eyes desperately wanting to go back to the contents of the book I was reading.

She grins at me and then comes over to me.

"Hey, whatcha readin'?" she asks, leaning over me to read the steamy love scene I was up to. I quickly close the book and then give a nervous laugh.

"N-Nothing. I was just going to put this book down anyway." I say, quickly getting up and shoving the book somewhere. Amanda raised an eyebrow at me, but then let it go.

"Oh okay. Well, see you after school. I start today!" she said, picking up her books from her seat. She waved good-bye to me, and then left the library.

At Work//4:19 PM

"Okay, so…you want a chocolate chip cookie, some mint milanos, and a chocolate caramel frappachino with extra whip cream?" I asked the impatient woman in front of me.

She nodded, with a look that said 'JUST GET ME THE DAMN ORDER'. The usual riff-raff.

I rang her up for 6.50 and then headed to the back to start making the orders. I usually handle tables and cleaning, but the manager called me after school to say he was sick. I'm really nervous about screwing up. I can't believe I'm saying this, but where's Amanda when you need her?

I put the quick-bake cookie in the oven and got the mint milanos ready. Now for the hard part, making the frap. I removed the post-it with the instructions on making different kinds of coffees from the cabinet in the back and read them quickly.

I put all the ingredients for a chocolate caramel frap in the blender and pressed the green button. Suddenly all the ingredients went everywhere, spraying me with chocolate bits and caramel coffee parts. I shrieked and quickly unplugged the blender. The lady in front of the cash register didn't look to happy.

I suddenly heard the bells from the door, and Amanda rushed in.

"Sorry I'm late!" she called, running behind the counter. I felt a rush a relief as she tied on her apron and came up to me.

"What the hell happened here?" she asked, scooping some chocolate off the counter with her finger and putting it in her mouth.

"I really don't wanna talk about it." I say, burying my face in my hands. She smiled and patted me on the back.

"I'll handle the orders; you handle the people, okay?" She said, taking the instructions from me and heading to the back.

Thank GOD for Amanda.

The next hour or two went pretty smoothly, and then towards the end of the day it went pretty slow. Amanda made us both some cookies and we sat down at a table in the front.

"Wow, pretty busy day." She murmured, resting her head on the table. I nodded and took a bite of my cookie, eagerly looking outside the window. Then, suddenly, as if my wish had been granted, skater-boy pedaled in front of the shop with his friends. I felt myself grin and he looked in the window as if he was looking for something.

His eyes suddenly found mine, and he caught me grinning. He smiled shyly at me and then quickly turned away. I suddenly gasped and covered my face with my hands. Amanda quickly looked up, annoyed.

"What's all that damn noise outside?" she said, turning around. Suddenly she gasped and grinned.

"THERE IS A SEX GOD OUTSIDE." She shouted. I suddenly felt my spirit dampen. I should have kept my mouth shut. Now she was going to go after skater-boy, and I was going to have to play the sidelines, watching her be content with the one I wanted. Amanda was much prettier than me too, so I was probably going to lose anyway, even if I did try. I suddenly regretted her being here in the first place.

She suddenly grabbed my wrist and practically kicked down the door to get outside. I gasped for the millionth time that day and felt my face heating up as we got outside. There were about five boys outside, including skater-boy, and they all simultaneously turned around to look at us.

I first looked shyly to skater-boy and smiled at him. His face was pink with embarrassment and he looked down, putting his hand behind his head. I couldn't help but smile at his cuteness.

"Hey, baby." On of the guys called. "What's your name?" he said, putting his arms around Amanda. Amanda, still clenching onto my wrist, swatted his hands away from her and dragged me over to skater-boy. The boy looked offended as he shuffled with his skateboard, glaring at her back.

"Hey, cutie-pie!" she said, smiling at him. He looked up briefly, staring at me. I gave him a helpless look and shamefully looked down at not being able to tell my friend to let go so I can run back inside.

He suddenly turned his gorgeous hazel eyes on Amanda and said, "I think your friend has something she needs to say."

Amanda gave him a weird look and stared at me. I felt even more backed up into a corner because everyone was staring at me.

"I…um…forgot my bag inside." I said, pulling my wrist free from her and running inside. I heard some laughter coming from outside, and I felt my cheeks burn with shame and my eyes welling up with tears.

I sniffled, and peaked from the side window so I could see what was going on. Amanda didn't rush in after me. In fact, she was still flirting with skater-boy. I sighed, and a tear escaped from my eyes. I ran to the bathroom and began to cry. Some day this was.

I cleaned up my face, and left the bathroom after twenty minutes to find Amanda sweeping happily. I walked up to her and put on a fake smile. She saw me and grinned.

"Hey, where the hell did you go? You missed out!" she said, putting the broom down and dragging me over to a table to talk.

"I asked the really cute guy for his number, and he gave me it! I told him I'd call him and he said he'd wait for my call!"

I suddenly felt my heart drop into my stomach. I felt angry, jealous and like running back into that bathroom to cry again. I smiled at her and said, "That's great!"

She smiled at me and said, "Yeah, I'm really happy. After my last asshole of a boyfriend, I think a cute boy like him will be good for me."

I nodded and swallowed the lump in my throat. "Um, Amanda, could you close up for me? I want to go home early today." My voice cracked on the last few words and she raised an eyebrow.

"Hey, are you okay?" she said worriedly. I nodded and muttered, "I feel sick." She nodded and said she didn't mind. I grabbed my things, said bye quickly and practically ran out. I looked around, and no one was on the streets, so I let a few tears escape from my eyes.

I walked home quickly, and closed the door behind me, hanging up my jacket and putting my bag on the floor. Just when I thought my day couldn't be any worse, the first thing that greets me when I get home is the snake-eyes of my mother.

"Your teacher called today." She said, without so much as a hello. My insides suddenly froze. "What…What did she say?"

"Don't play stupid with me, you know what she said!" she said, shouting in my face. I suddenly remembered today's Chemistry quiz and opened my mouth, but no words came out.

"Your teacher said you got an 81." She said, with a sadistic smile on her face. She suddenly came up to me and smacked me across the face. I closed my eyes and took it without a word.

"We agreed on nothing less than 95. Now GET UP TO YOUR ROOM AND YOU BETTER OPEN THOSE BOOKS!" she shouted, and I ran upstairs.

I didn't even agree to my mothers request. I just threw myself on my bed, and cried myself to sleep.

Boy//September 30th

I didn't really wanna go to school today, but I hauled my ass up to do it. I did my usual morning routine of freshening myself up, and left before my dad could bother the hell out of me.

The day went by pretty slowly, because all I could think about was the girl from the coffee shop. I went to my last period math class, and all I could think about was hugging her, kissing her, touching her, and…well. You know.

The day finally ended, and me and my usual crew went to Aaron's house to hang out. The rest of the boys were playing Xbox 360, and I stood on the side, enjoying my daydreams.

My friend Dylan came over, interrupting my thoughts and sat next to me. "What's up with you, man? You've been quiet all day!" he said. I shrugged my shoulders and looked away.

Aaron, still playing Halo 3, put in, "Are we going to the coffee place later?"

Dylan looked at me and smirked. I rolled my eyes. "I guess so."

This of course means, FUCK YEAH.

We played video games for a couple more hours, and then headed over to the coffee shop. I nervously skateboarded in front of it, and looked in the window, trying to find her. She was sitting at table with someone, but she was grinning at me. I suddenly felt my face heat up, and I smiled shyly back at her.

We were skateboarding for a minute after I smiled at her, when suddenly the door burst open, and out came this blonde and my favorite girl. The blonde flirtatiously looked at me. She wasn't really that great looking. She was okay. She had blonde hair and green eyes, but she had the figure of a ruler. Way too skinny, and no shape. Unlike my girl, with her yummy curves.

Suddenly my girl looked at me, and smiled at me. I felt my insides jump all over the place and I suddenly looked down, rubbing the back of my head awkwardly. Ugh, great. I'm such a wimp.

Aaron suddenly went up to the blonde, putting his hands all over her.

"Hey baby." He said. "What's your name?" She suddenly pushed his hands away and glared at him. I held in a laugh as I looked at Aaron's disgruntled face.

The blonde suddenly marched up to me, shaking her non-existent hips as I held in a groan. Great, it was me she wanted. I noticed that she was dragging my girl behind her, and I felt a bit annoyed.

"Hey, cutie-pie!" she said, smiling at me. A bit too eagerly. I looked at my girl with a questioning look. She gave me a helpless look and I saw her face turn red with embarrassment. I could tell she really didn't want to meet me forcefully like this. I ignored the blonde's comment and said,

"I think your friend has something she needs to say." The blonde gave me the 'What the fuck' look, and then turned to my girl. She suddenly looked like a deer caught in headlights because everyone was staring at her, and I felt like an asshole for putting her on the spot like that. I wanted her to speak up and stop being so shy.

"I…um…forgot my bag inside." She said quietly, pulling her hand away from the blonde's and then running inside. I saw a couple of my friends laugh, and I shot them a look of death that made them stop.

The bitchy blonde didn't even run after my girl to see if she was alright. She stayed to flirt with me.

"What happened to your friend?" I asked, implying that she should go and check on my dear girl. She shook her head.

"She gets like that sometimes." She said. She suddenly put her hand out and said, "I'm Amanda." I ignored her hand. She looked awkwardly at me and then put her hand down.

"What's your name?" she said, grinning at me.

"None of your business." I said coldly. She looked a bit offended, but quickly recovered. "I know you probably don't like me, but if you want you can give me your number and we can fix that." She said, trying to pout. She looked like a fish. I gave her some fake number off the top of my head.

She grinned and wrote it down on a small pad. "Okay, I'll call you."

I grinned, trying to hold in my laugh. "Yeah, I'll wait for it." I said jokingly. I guess she didn't pick up my hint, but she ran back inside all giddy.

I suddenly looked at all of my friends and we all burst out laughing. I can't wait 'till she calls that fake number. We left afterwards and told my friends I'd go home early today.

I skateboarded home, and put my things away in the hallway. I walked into the living room and saw my dad at the table, drinking as usual. I tried to head upstairs when he called for me.

"Come here." He said. I felt a bit scared, but I said nothing as I walked over to him.

"I told you to come home early today, didn't I?" he said angrily. I looked at the clock on the wall and cursed myself. I was an hour late. He suddenly smashed his glass against the wall and it shattered into a million pieces. I felt something warm trickle down my face and I touched it.

It was dark red. My dad's eyes suddenly widened. "I'm sorry…I'm…"

But I cut him off as I ran upstairs and slammed the door to the bathroom. I cleaned myself up and put a large band aid on my face. How was I going to explain yet another bruise to my friends? I sighed and lay down on my bed, thinking of my girl.
