cast over and tumble
we reel over land like we were
under water

there are torrents
among currents
and striking similarities
sharpen between my ears
of space
and our oceans

I try to jump ship to ship
comets like
dolphins in my wake
sails clouded like new stars

we slip to foreign movements
subtlety settles into them
as though this has always been the skin
below our skin
encircled by your insistence

I should not have said
our oceans
when we are the lone castoffs
who belong to the water
