The Red Mask Upon the Blackness of the Night

Once I saw a glimmering light of the color red

one silent, chilly night

The glimmer came from a tarnished alloy

of the bloodiest red

It crossed the threshold down the hall

towards the deserted streets of town

Passing every dimly lit house that glowed

feverishly on the ground.

Screams came from each, echoing down the

cobblestones and dusts of the streets

The mask silently lauighed,

a high-pitched, shrilly laugh

Hovering above as the whole town woke

with a dreadful start

The red mask conquered the town

in just one night,

Scattering grief and death around.
