I am not born,
embryonic-like,
out of this great structure -
the tower of my parents.
I duck under their protective
hands, shaped like a child's
cot. I give birth to myself -
a simultaneous joining of the
mother and the child
(for a person can be unfolded to
reveal layers of themselves, too)
and, newly-born, I take my
first tottering steps towards
my own.
