Drawn Together

The world around me sings

In melodies of gaiety,

Yet somehow the world to me

Seems silent and serene.

I see not the joy of the birds,

Feel not the beauty of budding flowers.

To me the world is silent,

There are sounds of hatred shown in wars

That color the land in crimson tears

As innocent souls blacken the evening sky

Drowning out the simply happiness

Of those not touched by the tragedies,

The pain,

The suffering,

The confusion,

Of humanity's refusal to accept

The differences that somehow,

In ways unknown,

Draw people closer
