I need to drown in water.
My mouth is open and I
Gasp with painful desire,
As sandpaper rakes me dry.
I stumble stoically to rushing
Waterfall, where I hold my face
To the froth and submit to the spray.
I breathe through wet nose
When burning lungs call for air
In an agonising rhapsody of painful pleasure
Finally coming up to breathe
Panting in harsh surrender
Before plunging under once more
To succumb to the precious, pounding flow.
