Let's picnic by the grove we knew as kids,

Oh god how I miss those days.

I would watch from the table

And you would swing away.

Bashful, bold, daring and crisp,

Your eyes would light the sky.

With my little art kit I sat and

I painted your mesmerizing eyes.

You spoke of wondrous, luminous lies

So I listened to the whims of laughter.

Oh yet I was perceived and deceived that day,

To think that perfection would last forever.

"Please can we just wait here forever?"

Let the seasons pass and change.

I would be complete sitting in this sand box.

As long as you promise, "I'll never go away."

Then I saw the storms, the brittle and the break.

We fought for days and split birthday cake.

But two hours later we make up and shake up,

Now we are better but I still miss it.

"Please can we just wait here forever?"

Let the seasons pass and change.

I would be complete sitting in this sand box.

As long as you promise, "I'll never go away."

I have my regrets and my skeletons are stacked;

Yet all I can ever do is conjure memories and think back.

We are doing it again and this time I won't change.

Can we make this last forever, a child like love?

I watch the seasons pass, yet your still here.

You promised me now, "I'll never go away."
