I sighed as I walked out the school grounds. I placed my hands in my pocket. I had spent the rest of the day with Coach Rogers. He was telling me every week, a match was held. They, or should I say we now, were only five weeks till the grand championship. Coach Rogers said he was 100 positive we would make it now because of me. He said I was the best wrestler he had seen in a long time.

I sighed. This town sure was going to be interesting. Coach had told me that my turn in the ring would come this Friday. It was a Wednesday. He said I was a prodigy and didn't have to practice today, but would have to tomorrow. I sighed. What a pain.

"Hey, Kari!" a voice yelled.

I turned around and saw Jake, running towards me. I turned around, and sighed. He finally reached me, his scent driving me wild once again. I was so tempted to touch him, to actually put my lips…. NO! I shook my head violently, forgetting he was there.

I realized he was there when he stood in front of me, looking down at me, worry in his eyes.

He asked, sympathetically, "Kari, are you ok?!"

He sounded so sincere. I felt my face grow hot as I nodded my head, slowly. He smiled and it looked like he was relieved.

Questions rung through my head that instant. Why was I feeling strange around him? Why did I find his scent driving me crazy? Why did he smell so amazing to me? My heart started to beat faster, and I felt my breathing was harder. I then tried to calm down by walking. Jake then was by my side once again.

This town's breezes didn't help either. A slight breeze flew through us. Damn wind. His scent was so magnificent, and he didn't know how it affected me. He then started to talk about how news traveled that I was the school's new wrestler. He said it was strange that that school would make the wrestling team compete at the end of the year, but it did have its advantages. Like not being bored for a full month!

We then reached our houses. He waved good-bye to me, and entered his house. I saw that my mother's red convertible wasn't there, so she wasn't there. My black convertible lay in the garage. I might use it this weekend to get away. Or I might just go to the forest.

I looked up to the sky above. The sun was already starting to set. Jake then came back outside. He started to walk towards me.

When he reached me, he asked, "Hey, do you wanna go to the forest? There's a beautiful pond in the middle." I know this. But I nodded my head. I opened the door to my house and threw my backpack inside. We then headed out for the forest.

We sat by the pond, the setting sun glittering against the waters. I inhaled Jake's scent. He was close enough for me to breath it in every time I took a breathe.

I watched as the sun's rays danced against the water. I then realized I wanted to tell Jake something. Two things. Two very important things.

"Jake?" I asked.

He looked at me, smiling. "Yeah?" he asked.

I stared at the dancing rays of the water. I asked, "We are friends, right?"

He smiled and said, "Yeah of course."

I wrapped my arms around my legs, and placed my chin on my knees. I asked, "If I told you a secret, would you promise not to leave me?"

He looked confused now, but it disappeared with one of his smiles. "I won't leave. I promise."

I stared at him. Could I trust him? Would he leave me? "You promise?" I asked, still unsure.

He nodded his head, his smile widening. "I promise," he said.

I smiled. I smiled a true smile. To him.

He then asked, "So, what's the secret?"

I sighed. I looked at him and said, "I'm a werewolf, Jake."

His dark green eyes stared at me. I knew what he was going to do next. He was going to run away from me, either screaming in fear or yelling for me to get away from him, and I was going to be left alone, knowing what I told him was a mistake. Anything could happen. He could do anything that resulted leaving me, knowing I couldn't trust anyone. Not now, not ever.

But all he did was smile. Finally, he said, "I knew you were different."

I was shocked. Why wasn't he running away? Did he hear me correctly?

I asked, "You don't care? Did you hear me correctly?"

He smiled, saying, "Yeah, I heard you. And, naaah. You're a person. You're my friend, Kari. No matter what you are."

No one in the world, not even my mother, could've put it in better words.

I felt….tears in my eyes.

He must've seen them for he looked concerned, asking, "Kari, what's wrong?"

I couldn't explain it. Probably not now, or ever. But I felt like I'd known Jake all my life, and he treated me like he had known me all along. Like we were the best of friends. Maybe…we both wanted to be more, but I didn't want to rush things.

The next thing I knew, I had jumped into his arms, my face against his chest. Tears filled my eyes even more. I could tell without looking at him, that he was shocked at what I was doing.

I felt his shirt become wet at the place my face was. I said, "Thank you, Jake. You're my friend too."

I then felt his arms embrace me in a hug. "I'm glad," was all he said.

I smiled again. A second real smile in one day. I inhaled his scent. It smelt better up close and personal. I could tell him now.

"You smell good," I said. He didn't reply.

I looked at his face. He then burst out into laughter. I looked at him, confused.

He asked, "I smell good? Is that why your nose has been twitching like that?"

I smiled and felt my face redden.

He continued to laugh. He said, "Kari, I don't know why, but I feel like… I've been your friend for years. Like…we were meant to meet. That's why I came up to you. I felt as though you were lonely and needed somebody. Is that it?"

I nodded my head. I replied, "I was lonely. You changed all of that in just, what, two days?"

We both laughed.

He said, "Yeah that is kinda weird, huh?"

I smiled and nodded my head.

We both then turned to watch the sun disappear behind the trees.

One month later (A/N: I don't feel like writing a month about school. How boring would that be?! Sorry If I'm moving to fast, but summer vacation, totally worth it. And actually, I was planning to make the beginning, just a prologue. The kinda real thing starts now. Just letting you know.)

A month's gone by since I moved to the quiet town of Loonearville, Colorado. (A/N: not a real town!). A lot has happened. If you're wondering, our wrestling team did win the championship, with the help of me and Stan Dawson.

Summer vacation was here and I was glad. I was so happy. I made some friends, most of them from my wrestling team, and that made my mother happy. But, I only had one best friend. Jake.

He still smelt amazing. We've been out of school for almost two weeks, but he's known my secret far longer than that.

Tonight, I sit in my room, my window open, and I started to draw a picture I saw in a dream. A pale, grey wolf 'walking' through a forest. The wolf was actually a werewolf. The werewolf stood by a pond, the moon just a barely visible crescent. But there was something different with the werewolf. I drew, on his right side, a blood stain. It was in the dream, and I dared not mess up the dream. The werewolf's eyes were light blue, filled with pain.

"Nice picture." I looked up to see Jake leaning in the widow. I smiled and said, "It's kinda depressing actually."

I moved and he jumped into the room. He then came behind me, and studied the picture. He looked at the werewolf.

"Why is he hurt?" he asked. He always assumed a werewolf was a boy, even when it was a she. But he was right this time. It was a he.

I looked at the werewolf as though I was expecting him to tell me.

"I don't know," I replied, "He just seemed that way in my dream."

He then ruffled my hair, playfully.

"Hey!" I yelled, smiling.

He then bent down to look into my eyes. My face reddened and my nose twitched. He noticed them both.

He smiled and asked, "Do I still smell good?" I think he's trying to torture me to death.

I smiled and said, "Amazingly, yes."

He smiled. "Just checking," he said.

I grabbed a plain notebook and slammed it playfully on his head, yelling, "I hate it when you do that!"

His laughter filled the room, as he yelled, "Hey! Quit it!"

The door than opened, and in came my mom and Maxie. Maxie wagged his tail, and my mom wore a smile.

I said, "Sorry, Mom."

Jake rubbed his head, saying, "Yeah, sorry, Mrs. Sherri." My mom's first name.

She said, "I don't know how you two can make so much noise."

I pointed at Jake, and he pointed at me. "He/she started it!" we yelled in unison.

My mom's laughter than filled the room. Maxie barked happily.

"Jaaake!" We looked out the window to see Mrs. Amber. She smiled and waved at me. She yelled, "Kari, how's drawing… your things, coming?" We had to tell Jake's mom. It was only fair that if Jake knew, she should know that her son was best friends with a werewolf.

I smiled and yelled, "Working on a new one, but Jake's interrupting me!" She smiled and laughed.

Jake slapped me playfully on the back of my head.

"Jake, its time to come home. You can see her tomorrow," she said from his room.

I said, "More like everyday. Really, boy, don't you get tired of hanging with me?" I asked.

As he climbed out the window, over me and my desk, carefully to not get dirt on my things, he looked back and smiled. He said, "Nope. Hanging with a werewolf is awesome." He jumped out the window and looked at me.

He asked, "So, you changing tonight?"

I shook my head, and pointed, with my pencil, to the sky. He looked up. So did his mom and I. We looked for the moon that usually hung in front of my window. It was not there. It was a new moon.

All he said was 'ahh'. He then ran off, saying, "See ya tomorrow, Ka!"

I smiled and said, "See ya tomorrow, Jay!"

He then disappeared with his mom into his room. I quietly closed the window.

"Mom, I have to tell you something," I said, becoming serious. She sat on the bed, and Maxie jumped next to her.

"Go ahead, kiddo," she said.

I said, "Mom, I can't explain it, but Jake smells different from the others."

She tensed up. "How?" she asked.

I sighed and said, "He smells amazing. It's like I can't go without his smell, without him being there. He smelt amazing the first time I saw him."

My mother smiled. She said, "Oh, Kari, I knew it was going to be him!"

I looked at her, completely confused. I asked, "What're you talking about?"

She smile widened and she said, "You've found your soul mate, dear!"

"What?!" I yelled, almost falling off my seat.

My mom looked at me and said, "When a werewolf first meets their soul mate, their mate smells utterly irresistible to them. Trust me. Your father and I met that way."

I looked at the ground. Jake, my Jake, is my soul mate?

I looked at my mother and said, "But he's my best friend!"

She brightened and said, "That's the beauty of it! You two are so close already."

I didn't know what to think. I thought about 'us' before. To see what it would be like for us to be together, but never knew we'd be destined! I wondered if he felt the same way.

I then unwillingly yawned. My mother smiled and said, "I think you should get to bed." I smiled and agreed. I was already in my pajamas. I placed my pencil next to my drawing and would work on it in the morning. She and Maxie walked out of the room, and she turned out the lights. I then climbed into the bed, and immediately fell asleep.

So how do you like it so far? Sorry for the little time skip. Like I said before. The first two chapters and the first half of this page were actually prologues. Sorta. Anyway, I want this to be in the summer time from now on. Hopefully SOMETHING will happen in either the fourth or fifth chapter. I'll try updating that this weekend. Leave reviews:)
