I always thought my mom had… let say it, issues. But when she waste one of my few weekends in home outside, I knew something was wrong. Something that probably involved me and something that for sure wasn't good. To top it all, that weekend was the same that the infamous Mike Walker had chose to annoyed me, so he had expend the whole trip in the bus to Dublin trying to get me to kill him.

You should know that Mike Walker is a lonely boy, but he's a genius in everything he tries, and he is a badass, willing to annoy the hell out of everyone.

I know that those three days by myself should have been a warning, but… Be honest, what would you thought? Your mother has her right to do what she please and go to a relax trip if she wants.

If all the suspicious things had end up there, I wouldn't have been half scared as I was the next month, when the first week off boarding school arrived. I'm not sure, but I felt something odd since the very first minute of that Friday when I woke up.

It was training day for the soccer team, so I had to be a good hour and a half sooner in the field. I knew something was wrong when the star player (said Mike Walker) didn't even show up, and I got this funny feeling all trough my first periods. When lunch came, I was so sure that the apocalypse was near, that I run to sat in Harry's lap all the time. He even had to carry me bridal style to my next class.

But, the worst was yet to come, and it came in the figure of a tall, blonde boy standing in front of my door with his suitcase when I was ready to get the heel out of my school. I glared at Mike, but the strange look in his eyes made me stop, and I silently followed him to the parking lot where our bus was waiting.

It was weird enough that he had grabbed my baggage from my hands and pushed me to the bus, but the fact that, when we arrived at Dublin, he stayed still next to me, without talking or moving, but without annoying me or glaring at me either, was something that still now kept eating my mind.

The weirdest thing happened the moment mi mom arrived. She smiled at me, kissed my cheek, and then she proceed to smile at Mike and kissed him in the cheek! ThatThat's what did it. I think that I was so speechless and shocked, that they even had to drag me to the car.

The journey in the car was silent, and… fucking weird. I remembered that in that moment I almost believed that either I was nightmareing or I had succumb to the drogues invites of Johanna and I was high. It was plain surreal to have bloody Mike Walkers in the back of the car.

The second we arrived home, Mike got out the car and made his way to grab his baggage. I had yet to come out of my trance, so I slowly got out, being pushed by my mom, who, strangely enough, was avoiding my gaze.

She guided us to the kitchen, ant told us to sit in front of her. I remembered this quite well, actually, because it was the start of my downfall.

"Lyra, I have something to tell you." That was how it started. Of course she had something to tell me! Starting with a 'what the hell Parker Academy's resident bad boy was sitting next to me in my house'. "Mike is going to stay with us until sunday."

The first explanation that crossed my mind was that his parents had suffered something really bad to let him here, so I was too busy pitying him to get annoy. But my mom didn´t end up there. No, she had a lot more going on. "And in sunday we're… going to London."

I was fine with going to London, I love London. So I just smiled and nodded. My mom pierced me with a curious glare that made me drop my smile the very first instant. "What's wrong?" I think that in that moment I almost said something along the lines 'we're going to the funeral of his parents?', but thankfully enough, I kept my mouth closed to that stupid phrase.

"Honey, I'm…" My mother inhaled deeply, and the continued. "I'm engaged with Harrison Walker."

In that moment, I didn't make the correlation between surnames that I now know I should. At least not until a good minute after.

"WHAT?!"

Smooth, right?

"I'm going to marry Harrison Walker, honey. The father of Mike and his siblings."

That phrase had two dreadful meanings. First, that she was actually going to marry a Walker and that she had enough relation with them to call Mike by his name. Second, that Mike had siblings. I didn´t knew that, and I always suspected him to be a genius orphan with money enough to pay for his studies.

"We're going to the Walker State for the engagement banquet, darling."

My mother is not good at reading people. If she were, she wouldn't just said that when it was obvious that I wasn't still getting the first part of her speech. Mike Walker was not only staying in my house for about two days, he was going to be my stepbrother?

And right there I made the only thing that occurred to me to escape that nightmare. I got up and ran to Harry's house.

Sometime around the first block and the next one, I started crying.

I know, I know. I have two other stories that aren't even close to be finished. But this is an idea that pop into my mind and I had to write it down. I also know that the basis arevery cliche, but I think that this story is going to have a lot of clichés; just to see what I can do.

So, if you have any cliché that you want me to put in the story, just send me a PM or rr. And tell me what you think
