From Freaky Goth Girl:
"He never belonged to me anyway." Aiko says with a sad, apologetic smile, and then adds, "He's waiting for you inside."
"Oh. Right." So I let Aiko lead me inside her house, which freakishly resembles Barbie's townhouse to me. Everything's so neat and orderly; even Kaiya's baby toys are safely tucked away. What kind of home is this?!
"Kyle? Lali's here!" Aiko calls happily, and sets her daughter down on the immaculate carpeting.
I can hear footsteps moving toward where Aiko and I stand in the living room, and my breath catches in my chest. I can't do this, I'm going to puke, I'm going to pass out, I'm going to have to kill myself with Kaiya's plastic hammer toy...
And then I see Hamby, and suddenly, I can't think of anything at all except for;
Oh shit. Here we go again.
Hamby looks so different, yet so similar, to what he looked like 3 years ago.
For one, his hair isn't as curly. He cut it shorter, but it's still the same golden hue. And his absolutely piercing, miraculous eyes are covered by stylish glasses frames. He's put on a little weight, but by no means is fat. Just not as lean as he used to be. But still, Hamby looks absolutely heavenly.
"Lali?" Kyle asks, in this tone of voice that I can't place. "Aiko, what the hell did you bring her here for?!"
"Kyle Hamby you know you were miserable without her!" Aiko hisses to Hamby, giving him a truly murderous look. "Now stop being such a stubborn son of a bitch and hear what she has to say. You both have some apologizing to do." And with that, Aiko scoops Kaiya, turns on her heel, and marches out of her own living room.
"So..." I mumble feeling like the giant-purple-polka-spotted-elephant in the room that nobody wants to acknowledge is there. "How ya been?"
"Cut the crap Lali," Hamby growls, and I can tell that he's more than just pissed; he's hurt. "Why'd you do it?"
"What? No small talk? We haven't seen each other in 3 freaking years, some things must've changed, or are you still just as big of an ass as ever?" I joke, trying to break the tension that's coated the room like chocolate jimmies on an ice cream sundae.
No such luck. "Oh yeah, things have changed. I got married to Aiko, had my kid, and then waited around for you to come back Lali." Man, the guy still knows how to send you on one hell of a guilt trip.
"Um...well," I bite my bottom lip and embolden, stepping closer to Hamby and laying my hands on his chest. "I'm here now..." I lower my voice to a rumble and growl the last part directly in Hamby's ear.
And Hamby shoves me away forcefully, his eyes barely burning a hole through me. "Don't try that shit with me," Hamby snarls, and raises a fist in the air. "You think that you can just come back in MY house, and act like nothing's changed? YOU left ME Lali! Remember that?! No explanation, no reason, just a fucking NOTE with that fucking SONG!"
"HEY!" I can feel my blood pressure rising, and immediately remember what it's like being with Hamby. "I had no choice, ok? I knew that once the baby was born you'd marry Aiko and there'd be no place left for me! And it obviously turns out I was right! So see, I'm not such a bimbo after all!"
"Who said you were a bimbo?! God Lali don't you dare put words in my mouth!!"
"I AM NOT!"
"AM TOO!"
I'm about to repeat another am not! when Hamby grabs me by the waist, pulls me up to his chest, and forces his tongue in my mouth. We kiss for so long, and so hard, that it almost becomes painful and I can feel blood forming on my bottom lip. And when we pull away, I'm breathless, and Hamby looks green.
"Get out, now." Is all he says, turning away from me and running his hands through his hair.
"Love you too jackass." I whisper to Hamby, kissing him on the cheek before grabbing my coat and strolling out the door.
Well, it's a start.
