I wonder what people can learn of me
From the quiet secrets decorating bedside walls.
Do these paint a portrait of who I am? –
The way my poems portray just how I feel.
I have a name card which I've owned since Year Seven
And simple pictures which I drew aged just eleven.
I have a painting of fairies (done by my own hand)
And photos of kittens – and a notice board:
With opinions cut out from "The Metro"
And photos of friends at a younger age,
And holiday postcards from long-forgotten days.
I have papers and wall hangings and blue tac and pins
I have lists and reminders of my ancient crimes and sins.
I lay here and I wonder just what the world might see
If my bedside walls really depict an image of just who I might be.
