…the division begins again
with you on your side of the wall,
me on mine
no one cares to break the partition between us.
and the top is just a precipice
flowerpots are falling to pieces
as the wall shakes from our anger.
you just walk out the door on the other side.
still i'm stuck in the wooden chair
with my head in my hands
wondering what happened to our love.
what happened to being all each other had?
can't you remember caring for each other
we were all alone?
can't you remember talking together
when nothing was going right at home?
can't you remember how much fun we
had together, you and me?
the empty chair on the other side tells me no.
(the slam of the door silences my heart.)
