A Conversation with Eyes

My eyes sketch patterns on his back
Endless patterns
Nonsensical patterns
A woman and a baby
A mountain made of white frosting
It's lofty peaks
Soft and sweet
Music notes
To inspire and empower
Up and down
A picket fence
A heart
A home
Happiness
Sadness
Love
Envy
Anger
Frustration
But not loneliness
Never loneliness

Heat prickles behind
Hair stands on end
The gaze is laser
Soul-seeing laser
Pushing, pushing
Until the volcano
That is curiosity
Erupts

Grey skies, grey eyes
Like the skies outside
The skies that rain pours out of
When god is crying
Do those eyes leak tears
When the emotions spill over
Too?

Surprised eyes
Opened wide like flowers blooming
But the petals cover
Distract
Closes like a flower
Petals
Curtains over the soul
Closes like a blossom
Indecipherable emotions
The gaze is broken

A moment of magic
A moment of truth
But it is veiled
Inevitably
The ending of a play
Why should anyone bother
With in here
Searching
While there is so much
Out there?

Sad eyes
Haunted and forlorn
Searching
does her search end at me?

Searching eyes
Boring into my mind
Can he hear
The swish and swirl
Of wistful thoughts
Or the thunk-ka-dunk
Of heavy thoughts?

Loving eyes
She has found
What she was searching for?
Her unsatisfying quest ends
With me?
I don't know
But does it really matter?

His eyes trace patterns
Everywhere
Finding beauty where he looks

She is mine and I am hers
And we are content with that.
