It was a cold and rainy night in the city, most families taking refuge next to their fireplaces, hobos gathered under various awnings, and just outside of Dom Forrest's house 5 teenagers next door tried to get rid of the smell of pot on their skin by running around in the rain.
The rain was inspiration for everyone, and it was for that particular reason that Dom had decided to paint a scene in the rain. It wasn't an intricate or graceful scene by any means, in fact it was depicting the story of a gangly looking youth out on the prairie without shelter.
The one disadvantage to painting, Dom thought, was that sometimes he could get so lost into it he'd lose track of time. Now that he thought of it, he lifted his gaze from the colored canvas to sneek a quick look at his wristwatch. 9:05. He'd painting been for four hours strait.
He smiled and gently set his paint brush down. It wasn't the first he went overtime on a painting, but this time he was o.k. with it. There is a certain satisfaction that comes along with finishing a painting, a nice feeling of completion and overall wholeness that fills you very soul with a clean burst of pure light.
Every time his brush touched the canvas it was like he was putting down a piece of his spirit. The colors and brush strokes reflecting upon his frame of mind and emotion. The smell of oil and acrylic, mixed with linseed was positively entrancing. It was his way of getting high.
It's a shame that he had to sell them. Perhaps maybe on day he'd be able to get them back.
It was such a peaceful night. So calm and quiet, other than the rain pounding upon his rooftop. The setting was a perfect medium to lead him off into daydreams.
He dreamed of flying up to the highest points in the sky, and swimming to the deepest depths of the sea, but most of all he dreamed of a world of open expressive emotion. All expressions painted on the faces of random passersby, using vivid and bright colors.
It was a great fantasy of his, something every artist hold dear to their hearts. To see the world through the canvas, and not the other way around.
A/N: Dom Forrester is a character that lives in my mind, and he's very much as real as you and I. So I decided to write about him. Hope you enjoyed :)
