Hobo Truck

A/N: this poem, in its original form, has some of the lines indented, which helps make a lot more sense. So, in an effort to preserve a bit of that clarity, I've added the (...) to the beginning of lines that should be indented... Hope it works. -CD

my little junkyard fodder

purple blue black gold

a metallic patchwork

...welded

...rather than stitched

...together

trapped

somewhere between

antique

and just plain old

with broken side view mirrors

...unlucky

...yet sporty remnants

...from daddy's '69

we call him smart

for his bed fortified with

computer casings

...and whatever other metal

...dad and I could forage

...around town

but no scavenged scrap can

remedy

his twisted

back bumper

hanging stubbornly at

...a fifteen degree angle

...though nobody knows

...why

not quite

striking

but charisma comes

from the inside out

...duct taped interior

...loose stereo system

...cranky stick shift that only works

...when it wants

this collage of

scrap metal

defines

character on wheels

choking to life each morning

...and defying the helpless

...Porsche

...abandoned in the garage
