"Runaway with me," the smooth whispering voice breathed into Pixie's ear.
Pixie's long eyelashes flickered, twitched, and slowly lifted open for him to see in his dark room. His usually bright eyes stared straight at his boyfriend's crazed blue ones.
Cassidy's face was inches away from his, his dirty blonde hair a mat on his head it was a mixture between straight tangled locks and curls.
"Cass?" Pixie whispered, lifting up his head, Cassie backed up to give him room, but never left his eyes from his own.
Pixie looked at his open window. "What are you doing here?" he asked, checking the clock.
2:30 a.m.
"Runaway with me," Cassidy repeated. This time he bit down on his chapped bottom lip.
Pixie rubbed his eyes tiredly with his small hand. His hair was a messy brown on his head right now. Honestly he wished Cassidy didn't have to be this close to him to see how sloppy he looked. He liked to look nice for Cassie.
"What? What are you talking about, Cassidy?" he stared at him curiously, wanting so bad to ask if he was on anything, but he knew how offended Cassidy would get if he did say that.
"I'm leaving," Cassidy glanced at Pixie's door, then glared and jumped up. He ran to the door, hopping on top of the bed to get across the large room instead of walking around the bed. Getting to the door, he shut it quietly and locked it just in case.
"I can't stay here anymore, I heard my parents, Stix. I'm not staying here. I'm not gonna stay and wait for them to send me off." He said, crawling onto the bed beside his boyfriend adding emphasis to each word he said as he got closer.
Pixie watched him anxiously.
"I-I don't, are you sure they're sending you off?"
"Yes!" Cassie said rather loudly. He was getting frustrated that this whole thing was getting so complicated. Pixie just needed to answer a simple question that Cassidy thought would have been answered by now.
"Why?"
"Why else? They think I'm fucked up, drugged out, whatever. They're lame. I'm leaving, and I want you to come with me." He said sitting up Indian style suddenly. Pixie tried keeping up with all of Cassie's sudden movements. There was no doubt that he was on something.
Cassidy reached out and took Pixie's small hand into his.
"Come with me,"
"Cassie, I don't know. I know its summer or whatever, but," he licked his lips, trying so hard to not look in his eyes. "My parents, they—"
"They hate me. Your mom thinks I'm the devil, okay? If I go, Stix, you probably won't see me for a really long, long time." He said lifting up Pixie's chin to make eye contact.
Pixie's heart sped up in his small chest.
"What about all my things?"
"I'll get you new things. I'll take care of you, I promise." He whispered, leaning in to kiss the other boy's mouth.
"My-my friends…"
Cassidy's jaw twitched as he grinded his teeth. He pulled his hand away from Pixie's. Pixie looked up at him frighteningly.
"I really thought that you would just say yes. I thought that you would just come with me no questions asked. That you wouldn't want me to leave."
"I don't! Cassie, I would never want that you know that!" he said, a little loudly. He'd give up anything for this boy and here he was, trying to make it seem like Pixie didn't give a shit about what happened to him.
Cassidy tugged on the sleeves of his thin, navy blue shirt. He shook his head, backing off the bed, and moving to the window.
"I'll just go. I'm not gonna force you to go, and I shouldn't even have to convince you. It's like you've been listening to your mom for so long that you hate me now."
"That's not true!" Pixie jumped up from his bed wrapping his arms around Cassie's torso as he walked to the window. His back pressed against Pixie's cheek.
"Please, I'll go! I'll go, Cassie!" he said. Cassie sighed.
"You're only saying that because you feel guilty."
"No! I want to!" he swore. Cassidy slowly turned around to him so Pixie's cheek was on his chest.
"I want to," he whispered.
"R-really? You'll go?" Cassie asked unsure. Pixie nodded against him. Cassidy smiled a smile that actually reached his eyes, and then he pushed Pixie to the bed lying on top of him. Pixie smiled up at him.
"We'll go wherever you want. I'll take you anywhere, okay?"
"Wherever?" Pixie asked, playing with a strand of Cassidy's hair. He was just happy that Cassidy was paying so much attention to him, that he wanted him to go so badly.
Wasn't it sad that Pixie had been dating him forever, yet he always felt like he had to vie for his attention? Like he had to do drastic things to hold onto Cassie because he was afraid he'd leave? Cassie was always with him physically, but not mentally. Mentally he was gone, gone to a place that he only opened up to some people. Pixie wanted to be apart of that place, Pixie wanted Cassidy to want him. To need him.
"Anywhere, everywhere, nowhere, whatever. I'll take you to Europe if you want, New York, London, anywhere, Stix. It's all up to you, you won't have to do anything ever!" Cassidy said with a maniac look in his eye, a look so crazy that both scared Pixie but intrigued him because he never knew what to expect from it.
"Could we go to the carnival?!" Pixie asked excitedly, his fifteen year old face lighting up.
"Of course we can! We can be apart of the carnival, or the circus, whatever you want it's yours." Cassie leaned down, and rubbed his nose against his lovers. "It'll just be me and you, froggie. No one to tell us that we won't work, or that I'm corrupting you."
"Just me and you?" Pixie repeated naively.
"Yeah, that's all." Cassie whispered, running a hand under Pixie's large night shirt and rubbing his soft stomach.
Pixie moaned in the back of his throat, titling his head as Cassidy kissed along his neck.
"What about Milo?" He asked. Cassie would never do anything without his brother. It was always a trio for them.
Cassie paused, and pulled up frowning. "I don't want to leave him, but he won't go. I know him. He'll tell and, and I just can't."
Pixie nodded, knowing that that was a big decision for him to make and Milo would probably be really hurt by it. Pixie knew no bothers closer to each other than Milo and Cassie, closer in ways that might seem inappropriate to some. But that was between them.
"What do I bring?" he asked.
"Anything that can fit in a back pack." Cassidy said rolling off of him and watching Pixie get up.
"What? Cassie, that's impossible! We're running away. What about all my things? My stuffed animals? My-my story books! My—."
"I'll get you new stuff, Stix. Stop being such a girl. Live in the moment okay?" He said, closing his eyes and crossing his arms behind his head.
Pixie bit on his lip again, what the hell should he bring? Cassie had run away plenty of times so he was use to surviving with only a little. Pixie had run away sometimes, but it never lasted longer than two days.
"Just bring a lot of underwear." He said.
Pixie smirked, lifting up his large shirt to show his thin legs teasingly.
"Well, what if I just don't wear undies?" he taunted. Cassie opened his eyes, and sat up on his elbows watching him.
For someone who was fifteen, Pixie was more than enough mature when it came to sexual things than anyone Cassidy new. They had done everything together and then some. There were no limits.
"You're such a tease," Cassidy laughed.
Pixie shrugged. "Only for you," he said sweetly and lifted his shirt off. He stood there in his small lacey, sky blue underwear, hugging his slender body. Pixie always had a body of a girl…many confused him with a girl. He was just plain versatile: he could go between which genders whenever he wanted. Right now with his straight brown hair he was just a very, very pretty boy.
Cassidy let his eyes linger on him. Pixie wouldn't let anyone touch what he promised for only Cassie. Sometimes it bothered Cassidy how much Pixie was willing to give up: he knew from the moment they first confessed their feelings that Pixie loved him more. Sometimes, Cassie wasn't even sure if what he felt for Pixie was love. Or vice versa, what if Pixie just confused lust and admiration for love? It scared Cassie to death thinking about that kind of stuff so he chose to ignore it.
It's always good to be with someone that loved you more, then they wouldn't leave. Pixie wouldn't even think of leaving him, he was too loyal. He gave his body and soul to him, and what had Cassidy done for him? He wasn't quite sure. But this was a good way to reconnect right? He'd be with Pixie all the time now, he wouldn't have time to cheat.
Cassidy pulled himself up, and went to Pixie, hugging him from behind suddenly just as he put on a hoodie. Pixie laughed.
"I'm sorry," Cassidy whispered.
"For what?" Pixie asked confused.
"Just, for everything, for ever making you sad, or cry. You're too good for that," He said. Pixie laughed again, and pushed him back.
"Let me finish packing."
Cassidy nodded and sat waiting and being jumpy. Fucking cocaine was doing him in good.
After a few more minutes, Pixie paused and looked around with Cassidy standing beside him.
"This is it."
"Yup," Cassie whispered.
Pixie glanced up his boyfriend just to make sure this was the right decision and when he saw just how Cassidy glowed in the moonlight with that messy hair, those full lips, those freckles and those haunting eyes, he knew. He knew that this boy was too great to give up.
Cassidy crawled out of the window first and Pixie followed then paused again sitting on the window sill as he stared in.
Cassie sighed in frustration.
"This is weird. I'm adopted, kids are put up for adoption because they're not needed, people get lost as orphans. And here I am having everything I could ever want and I'm leaving it to run away and be lost, alone," Pixie said thoughtfully. Cassie fidgeted, and cupped his cheek.
"You have me, you're not gonna be alone. I wouldn't let you." He said kissing his face. Pixie nodded.
"Here," Cassidy reached into his tight jeans and pulled out a small gram of coke and a key.
Pixie frowned.
"It'll make you feel happy, okay?" he said. This wasn't the first time Pixie would be taking coke of course, but he just didn't feel right taking it right now when they should be focusing on what and where they were going. Cassie was running away because his parents thought he was doing too many drugs, and Pixie didn't want any reason to agree with that.
Taking a shaky breath, Pixie leaned in and Cassie scooped a small amount onto the edge of the key feeding it to his boyfriend.
"One more," he said doing it again as Pixie sniffed and then leaned his head back letting the drips fall back causing his throat to become numb. He smiled happily up at his boyfriend and Cassidy took three key bumps, rubbed some on his gums, and then took his hand.
The pair snuck off to his car and Pixie stared off at his home, he knew he'd be back, soon, he never expected to be gone as long as they were though but that was fine. It was a lesson that he needed to learn.
Cassidy lit up his cigarette, putting the windows down.
Pixie closed his eyes smiling as they wind blew around the two of them.
Some dance, electro song came on and Pixie swayed along with moving his feet with the beat. Cassidy laughed, and moved his hair out of his face.
Looking over, Pixie gazed at his boyfriend, wondering how he was able to get him. The reason was because they grew up together…otherwise Cassidy probably wouldn't have trusted him enough to talk to him, let alone have sex with him.
Pixie felt chosen to have met and known this boy. He was that special. He knew how sketchy Cassidy was with people: it was only a selected few that he could hold a conversation with and Pixie was proud to be one of them. He might have been with Cassidy sexually but he still envious of the bond he shared with his brother Milo. He wished that he was as connected with Cassidy as people thought.
Pixie's eyes flickered at Cassie's wild dirty blonde hair and the dirt under his bitten fingernails. He looked at his paler than usual skin and the way that his lips formed when they sucked on the end of the cigarette or the movement of his tongue as he licked his numb gums. He stared at the dark bluish gray rings that seemed to just appear under Cassidy's eyes now.
He watched how Cassidy's slender wrist took a hold of the steering wheel. At the stop light, Cassidy rolled up his sleeve and sent a smirk to his boyfriend taking his hand.
Pixie couldn't help but look at the track marks on Cassidy's arm. Some holes looked fresh, red, and others looked scabby yet picked at. Forcing a smile, and forcing it all in the back of his mind he squeezed his hand and kissed it roughly.
"I'm gonna take care of you Stix, I promise. It's just gonna be me and you. You'll love it, you'll see."
His promise faded in the wind.
