Snow in April

It snowed today,
after a day of declining temperatures,
freezing rain, and strong winds.

My patience with the ever changing weather
is constantly waning,
and I find myself longing for West Coast beaches.

As I walk to the bus stop,
snow flakes graze my cheeks,
as I long for the rain from yesterday.

Sure, it was dreary,
wet and cold as puddles accumulated,
but at least it was warmer.

And here I thought it was safe for my winter coat to retire.
