Escape

You're not here

and yet

I can't escape you.

All around,

I see your face.

Everywhere

the moon shines down

and 'tis you

I see.

The flames flicker

diligently

into the night

and your figure

forms in the fire.

Eyes grow weary,

come to a close,

and you're there,

too.

Why you haunt

don't ask,

but you do.

I'm never alone,

although physically

without you.
