Another product of English class boredom. The writing prompt my friend gave me was:
Write a poem about censorship. So I did.
What you can and cannot do.
What you can and cannot say.
The regulations that society puts upon us.
The attempt to put chains around our art.
The exploitation of our limitations.
You cannot silence me
Because, as an artist,
I will turn silence into a masterpiece.
You can take it,
Black list it,
But art is art
Regardless of its acceptance
By the masses.
Art is the one thing that will speak
Even when its lips are sewn shut.
You cannot tell me what to do.
You cannot tell me what to say.
You cannot tell me what to create.
My limitations do not belong to you.
Do not silence me.
