A/N: This is a poem about what it feels like to be having a severe asthma attack. I had a severe asthma attack just like this not so long ago and I was later told by my doctor that if I had been just moments later arriving at the hospital I wouldn't have survived.

Asthma

My chest

Is tight

My heart

Pumps fast

So fast

It hurts

My lungs

Can't breathe

My head

Spins wildly

My body

Shakes violently

My face

Pure white

Gasping desperately

In need

Of air

Becoming weaker

Sitting down

Head spinning

Unbearably fast

Vision blurred

Pain welling

Chest bursting

Heartbeat slowing

Almost unconscious

Spinning around

Mouth dry

Chest tight

Throat closing

Now unconscious

Only just

Remaining alive

Limp form

Life flashes

Through mind

Bright light

Hospital bed

Hospital ward

Doctors, nurses

Still alive

Heart beating

Lungs breathing

Throat opened

Sits up

Breathes and

Lives again
