My name is Lilly Hunter.

I'm 19 years old and currently a Freshman at Texas A&M.

Today is December 21st.

I'm sure you've noticed by now that it is only 3 days till Christmas.

Yea, I realized it three days ago, when I found out that my parents were going to Europe for Christmas.

And my brother and sister are both having their own Christmas's so here I am.

The lonely Freshman staying on campus for Christmas.

How lame is that? If I were you I would feel sorry for me too.

Once reality had settled in, I had to get some air.

That's how I ended up out in the snow, in the middle of the campus yard, banging my head against the picnic table I am

sitting on.

BANG
BANG
BANG
Ba--??

I stopped suddenly as I realized my head had hit something soft instead of the hard wood of the picnic table.

I looked forward and saw a hand sitting on the table where I had just been hitting my head.

I followed the hand up with my eyes and saw an arm. I traveled further until a head came into view.

It was a guy, with short blonde hair and vibrant blue eyes. He smiled at me as I stared at him.

Slowly, as I remember he had stopped my big banging fest, my stare turned into a glare.

He smile fell and he took his hand away from me and shoved it into his coat pocket.

I turned away from him and buried my head in my arms. I heard him move and felt the picnic table shift as he sat down beside me but I ignored him.

I didn't know this guy, so I wasn't going to talk to him.

I heard him clear his throat then there was silence.

"Why were you banging your head on the table?"

Darn, I was hoping he would just go away and not talk to me.

I mumbled an answer from under my arms but I doubt he heard me.

"What was that?"

Told you.

I sighed and picked my head up off my arms.

"I said, because I can."

"That's a stupid reason."

"Well, I didn't ask you. Ok?"

"Oh, come on. Just tell me."

I sighed throwing the idea of telling him around in my head.

I guess it couldn't hurt.

"Fine. But you have to tell me your name first. So I don't feel like I'm talking to a complete stranger."

He chuckled but answered "Logan"

I nodded my head "I'm Lilly"

He smiled and looked at me with one eyebrow raised. Like he was waiting for me to continue.

I rolled my eyes but I knew I wasn't going to get out of telling him. So I took a deep breath and let it out.

"To put it short my whole family is busy for Christmas so I have to stay here for the holidays."

I looked over at him and saw pity mixed with an understanding look on his face.

"That's got to suck. To stay on campus for Christmas. That doesn't sound like fun at all."

I scoffed and set my chin down on my arms. "Tell me about it."

"I can see why you were banging your head now."

"About that, thanks for stopping me. My head was starting to hurt."

He laughed and opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted when his cell phone went off.

He shut his mouth and reached into his pocket and pulled out the ringing cell phone.

"Excuse me."

I nodded my head and watched him as he open the phone and put it to his ear.

"Hey mom."

I was close enough to Logan that I could hear his whole conversation.

"Honey, are you on your way yet?"

"No, mom. I'm not leaving until tomorrow morning. Remember?

"Will you get here in time then?"

"Yes Mom."

"You bringing anyone? A girlfriend maybe?"

I laughed at the way his mom had said it causing Logan to turn towards me.

"No, Mom. I told you already I don't have a girlfriend."

"Really? I could of sworn you said you DID have a girlfriend."

"Nope."

"Humph. Logan. Don't disappoint mommy."

I laughed again as I saw Logan roll his eyes. Then he stopped and focused on me.

I got a little suspicious as the look in his eyes changed turned mischievous.

"You know what Mom. Don't worry I am bringing someone."

"Oooo. Your girlfriend?"

"Sure Mom. My girlfriend."

I tilted my head to the side completely confused. Didn't he just say he didn't have a girlfriend?

"What's her name?"

The smile on Logan's face suddenly got much bigger.

"Lilly."

My jaw dropped to the floor as he said my name.

"Oh! What a beautiful name. Logan and Lilly. Sounds great! I'll see you soon."

"Bye Mom. Love ya."

"Love you too."

Logan's smile never faltered as he closed the phone and put it back into his pocket.

My mouth kept opening and closing and I'm sure I looked like a fish at the moment.

I finally got my voice to work. "What was that!"

He shrugged and gave me an innocent look.

"I don't know what you are talking about."

"You just told your Mom--"

"Yea, So?"

"But I--"

"Don't tell me you have plans cause I know it's a lie."

"Well--"

"That's what I thought. I don't see any reason why you can't come home with me for Christmas."

"I--"

"I mean who wants to spend Christmas on campus? Trust me, you'll have much more fun with me and my family."

"But--"

"I know, we hardly know each other. But it's got to be better than being alone."

"How--"

"Who, that you know, is staying on campus for Christmas."

He looked at me waiting for an answer.

Oh so now he's going to let me talk.

I thought for a while but I couldn't think of anybody.

I look down at the ground and mumbled. "No one."

"See. So will you come with me? Of course you'd have to act like my girlfriend."

My head shot up so quickly I thought it was going to break.

He raised that darn eyebrow of his again. "Is that going to be a problem."

I thought about it and figured what the heck. It might be fun after all.

I smiled and nodded my head. "Ok. Sounds good."

He smirked, got up, and started walking away.

I shot out of my seat and ran after him. "Hey! Wait!"

He stopped where he was at and turned towards me.

"Huh?"

"That's it? Your just going to walk away?"

He stared at me for awhile and I started to get uncomfortable.

"Logan?"

That snapped him out of it.

"Oh yeah. Pack enough clothes for 10 days. I'll meet you at your dorm at 9 o'clock tomorrow. Which dorms yours?"

I pointed behind me at a door with a green bow on it.

He shook his head and smirked at me. "Nice."

I smiled too as he turned and started to walk away again.

Once he took a couple of steps he stopped and turned back around.

"Oh, and be prepared for a 5 hour drive." He smirked again before disappearing around the corner.

My jaw dropped again for the second time that night.

He could have mentioned that before.

Not that it would've changed anything.

I stared at the spot where he had been standing before turning and heading to my own dorm.

I needed to pack, and get some sleep.

In spite of not really knowing Logan very well, I was really looking forward to this trip.

I finished packing all my clothes and was about to go to bed before I remembered something.

I should probably let my parents know where I'm going to be.

I grabbed my cell phone and hit the speed dial.

I waited and waited and finally someone answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey Mom!"

"Hey! What's up?"

"I just wanted to let you know that I am going to spend Christmas with my friend Logan and his family."

"Whose is this Logan?"

"Just a friend Mom."

"Yeah. I'm sure. Well, it's ok with us. Not that we could stop you from all the way over here."

"That crossed my mind, but I still wanted you to know where I'd be."

"Ok. Thanks honey. Talk to you soon. Love you."

"Love you too. Have fun!"

I snapped my phone shut and plugged it into it's charger.

"Now, time for some sleep." I said to myself as I shut off the light and climbed into bed.
