The next morning I woke up when bright light hit my eyes.
Ugh, that darn sun.
Yet I continued to stay in bed.
I was so not motivated enough to even attempt to get out of bed.
So I just laid there, listening to the soft rhythm of Logan's breathing.
Lucky for me I was so bored that I ended up falling back asleep anyways.
Then, I woke up again.
30 minutes later.
This time Logan was awake as well.
I rubbed the sleepy out of my eyes and sat up cross-legged, facing Logan.
"Glad your awake."
He raised one of his eyebrows and looked at me amusedly.
"Why is that?"
I scoffed and stuck my tongue out at him.
The just egged him on.
He raised the other eyebrow as if asking if I was challenging him.
Oh No.
Before Logan could start anything I jumped and pinned him to the bed.
Wasted effort really cause the next thing I know, I'm laying flat on my back.
"Uncle?" I asked hopefully.
"Only under one condition."
I heavy sighed and tried to figure out what the one condition good be.
"Fine."
"Kiss me."
"Oh, Logan. You don't have to threaten to tickle me for a kiss."
I shifted my body slightly so I was in reaching distance of his lips.
I guess Logan caught on because this time, he closed the small gap between us.
Logan pulled away and immediately started talking.
"So are you saying that if I want to kiss you all I have to do is….kiss you."
I nodded.
"And you won't mind."
"Nope, chances are I'll probably want to kiss you too."
I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and slithered out from underneath his body.
I threw on some sweatpants and a sweatshirt and skipped across the room.
As I neared the door I shouted over my shoulder "Merry Christmas, Logan!!"
I skipped all the way down the hall and into kitchen.
Where Maria, John, Joy and Ryan were all seated at the bar chatting away while fixing breakfast.
I skipped in and plopped down beside Joy. "Merry Christmas everyone."
Everyone in turn said Merry Christmas back to me, without even stopping what they were doing.
But hey, it Christmas so who cares?
I watched Maria cook until Logan walked in and sat down to my right.
He automatically scooted his stool closer and laid his hand on my knee casually.
I smiled, still watching the bacon sizzle, and tried to ignore his hand.
I'm assuming he noticed, because he started rubbing his thumb back and forth.
Every time his thumb moved shivers went up leg.
It was getting harder and harder for me concentrate on anything besides his him.
And I'm pretty sure that is exactly what he wanted.
I breathed deeply and tried to strike up a conversation with Joy.
"So, what's your guys' Christmas tradition?"
She chuckled and started waving her hands around as she talked.
"Well, we eat breakfast first, then we open presents, then we do whatever we want, then we have a big Christmas dinner, and finally we gather around the fireplace with hot chocolate and watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
I bust out laughing along with Joy.
"How cool! I love it."
Joy nodded and gulped down some OJ.
"It's what we do."
Maria finished cooking a few minutes later, and set down before me a plate overflowing with delicious food.
As I looked at all the food, my stomach started rumbling.
And as hungry as I was, I tried my best to eat slowly.
I figured as soon as the food was done Logan would take his hand off my knee.
But he didn't, he left it there the whole time.
Although he did stop moving his thumb.
After everyone was done eating we all migrated into the living room.
I smiled at the numerous presents piled high underneath the tree.
I knew though, that only a few of those were mine.
Surprisingly it didn't bother me at all.
I was just happy being here with them.
Plus, I understand that I was a last minute thing.
I sat down in green recliner next to the couch.
Two seconds later I was yanked up and pushed onto the couch.
I landed practically on top of Logan.
When I looked behind me, I saw Joy plop into the chair with a satisfactory look.
I rolled my eyes and gave a small laugh before I scooted so I was leaning on the couches armrest.
Logan picked up my legs and set them across his lap, then laid his hand on my thigh.
I smirked and grabbed his hand off my thigh and interlaced our fingers.
Yet he just winked at me, took his other hand and put it on my thigh.
So much for winning. I huffed but gave in.
I had to admit, it felt good having his hand on my thigh.
Maria got up and started handing out the presents.
It surprised me when she handed one to me.
It was from her and John and it was a green sideways backpack.
Maria smiled at me and shrugged her shoulders, "Logan said your old one was all worn out."
I stroked the fabric and said "thank you".
I set the bag on the floor and watched everyone else open their presents.
The rest were mostly from their other relatives.
Next I opened up the dress Joy bought me, and she opened up the one from me.
We looked at each other and winked then watched Maria and John open their presents from me.
Logan loved his watch. He said he had been needing one lately.
Then Logan handed me a small box. I took off the bow and slowly opened it.
Inside was a beautiful gold heart pendent, covered in small jewels with a tiny key hanging off it.
I gasped and covered my mouth with my hand.
"It's gorgeous" I whispered.
I could tell everyone in the room was watching me, but I didn't care.
I never expected this.
I looked up and locked eyes with Logan.
He was smiling at me, not smirking, but smiling.
I took it off and turned so Logan could put it on me.
It felt cold against my bare skin, but a good cold.
I guess that's where he was the other morning.
That's when I noticed Ryan wasn't here.
"Joy? Where's Ryan?"
Joy stopped sifting through the clothes in front of her and turned to me.
"He got a call last night from his family. His grandpa is in the hospital and he went to see him."
"Oh! I'm sorry."
Joy nodded, gathered up all her stuff and left the room.
John leaned back in his chair, obviously getting ready to take a nap, and Maria headed off to the kitchen.
I got up too and took a quick trip to the bathroom.
On my way out I ran into Logan.
He pulled me down the hall and into the hall closet.
When he closed the door we were suddenly engulfed in darkness.
I couldn't even see my hand when it was right in front of my face.
I reached foreword slowly until my hand hit Logan's chest.
He and I were a lot closer then I had first thought.
The soft clink of metal sounded and then Logan's face came into view.
I had to squint slightly against the bright light but I still got a good look around.
We were in a tiny closet with shelves full of different sized blanket and sheets.
Logan scooted closer and wrapped his arms around my waist then he brought his lips down to mine.
I smiled as we kissed, seconds later we pulled apart and just leaned against each other.
"Merry Christmas" Logan whispered.
I chuckled and whispered right back "You too, but why are we in a closet?"
"Because it was closer and it makes me feel like a teenager again."
I snorted and rolled my eyes and went to open the door.
But Logan pulled me back and held my hand as he grabbed a few blankets and laid them on the floor.
We sat down on them and found that the closet was just big enough that we could lie down comfortably.
I was on my back and Logan was on his side with his back leaning against the wall.
We also found a huge body pillow that we tucked under our heads.
It was nice and in its own way, kind of…..romantic.
"Logan, I still don't get why we're in the closet when you have a room."
I felt his breath hit my cheek as he spoke "And I'm thinking you never will."
I shrugged and started tracing patterns on the arm that was draped across my stomach.
Underneath my fingers I felt Logan's skin shiver and little goose-bumps started to form.
I smiled at his reaction to my touch.
I continued tracing even after his breathing evened out.
I turned ever so slightly and saw that his eyes were closed.
I shook my head and closed my eyes too.
Seconds later I felt myself drifting and I just let sleep take me.
I awoke to loud clicking noises.
When I opened my eyes to investigate, what I found was the closet door open and Maria and Joy taking pictures with a digital camera.
I squinted up at them and gave Logan a hard tap on the chest.
He opened one eye, looked at me, looked at them, then reached over and pulled the door shut.
I heard them gasp from the other side of the door and then footsteps.
Logan dropped back onto the floor and pulled me even closer to him.
By now I was wide awake and there was no chance of my getting back to sleep.
And there was obviously no way he was going to let me go.
So I just set to entertaining myself, by poking Logan in the chest.
Poke
Poke, Poke
Poke, Poke, Poke
Poke
Poke
Poke, Poke
Poke
Poke, Poke
Poke, Poke, Poke
"Stop!"
I withdrew my hand and scooted away smiling.
"I'm awake, just stop poking me."
I watched Logan run his hand through his hair, a scowl on his face.
I just smiled up at him innocently.
Eventually Logan stopped scowling and rolled his eyes.
"You are the most persistent girl I've ever met."
"Thank you. Now let's go."
Our lips locked momentarily before I ushered him out of the closet.
My first stop was the bathroom to get myself cleaned up.
I met Logan in the kitchen with the rest of his family.
They were all going about their business like they hadn't just caught us asleep in the closet.
I shrugged and went with it.
Then I burst out laughing when I saw the framed picture sitting on the counter.
It was me and Logan curled up together in that tiny closet.
It was actually a really good photo and I loved it.
I walked over and picked it up and just held it in my hand, staring at it.
Logan walked up behind me and looked at it over my shoulder.
"That's a keeper."
I smiled and turned to Maria. "Can I have this?"
She smiled back and nodded her head. "Sure. I made lots of copies."
I walked slowly back to Logan's bedroom still fingering the photo.
I laid it in the bottom of my suitcase where I knew it would be safe.
The real reason I wanted the picture was because I wasn't totally sure what was going to happen after we went back to school.
I mean sure Logan loves me now, but who knows about later.
There was this little seed of doubt in the back of my mind and it kept nagging me.
But I didn't want it to run my vacation so I pushed it away and left the room.
I ended up in the living room, playing Scrabble with Joy.
Logan would wander around, always coming back to help me spell a word or two.
I beat Joy five times before she gave up and talked me into playing Battleship with her.
She won. But we had a blast playing.
Occasionally Logan would stand behind Joy and give me little hints.
But we had to stop when she found out and had a hissy fit.
She was a good sport about it though, probably because she knew she would win anyways.
Which she did
Numerous times
I traded places with Logan after awhile and just watched as he beat her at her own game.
I don't know how he did it, but he beat her for me.
Afterwards I gave him a big hug and a sloppy kiss on the cheek.
"My hero!"
I saw the look in Logan's eyes even before he lunged at me.
I scurried away but only made it to the hall before he grabbed my ankles.
My legs were pulled out from under me and I started falling towards the ground.
But in one fail swoop, Logan had jumped, wrapped his arms around me, and put himself between me and the floor.
I gasped as we hit the floor and the wind was knocked out of me.
Logan though, didn't waste any time. Before I had started breathing again I was rolled over so I was on the bottom.
"Did you just kiss me on the cheek as my reward?"
I sucked in a shaky breath and giggled.
"I am so sorry Logan. I completely forgot."
He smiled down at me with a look that clearly stated 'What are you waiting for?'
I rolled my eyes but leaned foreword and pressed my lips against his.
He automatically deepened it and I felt my stomach flip flop.
I pushed on his chest slightly and he pulled away.
When he didn't move to get off me I pushed even harder.
Logan rolled off me allowing me to get up.
I stuck my tongue at him then turned, tuck tailed and ran.
As I ran I heard him shout "Real mature!!"
But as I was running I was looking over my shoulder at Logan.
So I didn't see the man standing at the end of the hallway.
I smacked right into him and sort of bounced off his chest.
I'm sure I would have landed on the ground had he not grabbed my elbow.
He helped steady me then brushed past me as he walked towards Logan.
Logan's eyes sparkled as they gave each other a 'manly hug'.
"Dude, what are you doing here?"
I stayed where I was at and watched the two guys talk.
"I was in the neighborhood so I decided to stop by. I haven't seen you in awhile."
I zoned out after that and took a good long look at the new guy.
He was slightly attractive, not as much as Logan mind you.
If I had to guess I'd say he was around 6 foot tall and he had short black hair that covered his ears.
After awhile I got extremely bored and I really left like walking somewhere. Anywhere.
I debated whether or not to tell Logan I was leaving but he was busy and I didn't want to interrupt.
So I just grabbed my jacket and silently walked out the front door.
Sitting right in front of the porch was a motorcycle that had to be that guys inside.
I stopped next to it and looked around.
I didn't feel like going to the waterfall/lake so I went the other direction.
Soon, I found another path. This one was wider and looked worn from use.
~Back to the house~
Still standing in the middle of the hallway, Logan and his friend Jack continued to talk.
"So Logan, who was that girl that ran into me earlier?"
Logan's eyes sparkled and a huge grin spread across his face.
"That's Lilly, she's my girlfriend."
He turned around to beckon her over to them, but nobody was there.
Immediately his smile dropped and his eyebrows knitted together.
"Where'd she go?"
Jack shrugged and followed Logan around the house as he asked everyone if they had seen her.
No one had.
But Maria told him not to worry, that she'd show up soon.
So they both headed to Logan's room and started playing video games.
And as the time went by Logan grew even more and more worried.
~Lilly~
I continued along the path, looking at all the nature surrounding me.
The only noise I heard the whole time was the crunching of snow under my boots.
Then all of a sudden there was a fork in the path.
As far as I could see the right lead to a large clearing and the left continued on.
I turned to the right and was about to start walking again, when I heard a rustling noise.
I froze automatically and looked around.
There was no one around me yet the rustling continued.
I bit my lip and strained my ears; the sound was coming from the clearing to the left.
With my heart beating and my breath ragged, I tip-toed towards the clearing.
As I got closer the rustling became louder.
Soon I was standing smack dab in the middle of the clearly, frozen in place.
Standing in front of me, was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen.
It was a horse, wild by the looks of it.
I gasped and marveled at the beauty of it.
Its skin was a bright white that contrasted with the snow covering the ground.
The mane and tail were a milkier white and its eyes were a startling green color.
It raised it head high and stared at me, as if judging me.
At that moment the sun peeked over the trees and hit the horse.
The whole clearing was filled with a blinding white light.
I threw my arms over my eyes and stumbled backwards.
There must have been something behind me because I tripped and landed on my back.
My head hit something sharp and I blacked out.
When I finally came too, the sun was still shinning, bouncing off all the little flakes falling out of the sky.
I noticed the trees surrounding the clearing where swaying in the harsh winds and the air was much colder.
I blinked a few times, trying to clear up the jumbled mess in my mind.
The harder I thought the less able I was to remember anything that had happened.
So I tried to calm myself down and concentrate on one thing only.
How did I get this throbbing pain in my head?
It took me a few seconds but then everything came back to me in a rush of pictures.
The horse
I snapped up into a sitting position and scanned the clearing.
The sudden movement sent my head spinning and I got really lightheaded.
I grabbed my head with my hand and started massaging in gently.
The wind whipped my hair around my face and sent chills all over my body.
I pulled my jacket closer and started analyzing my situation.
With horse no where in site I was starting to doubt that it even existed.
The wind picked up some more and the flakes got larger and fell heavier.
I finally decided that the best thing to do was to get home.
I, very slowly this time, got to my knees and then to my feet.
After I gained my balance I headed down the path and back towards the house.
It didn't take me as long to get back as it did to get to the clearing in the first place so I was back in no time.
Before I had even gotten the door open I was pulled into a tight hug.
"My God Lilly, where have you been?"
I shook my head at Logan, hoping he'd understand that all I wanted right now was another hug.
I guess he understood because he pulled me back into his chest, softer this time.
I wrapped my arms around him and breathed in his scent, automatically calming me down.
As we were hugging he went to smooth down my hair but pulled away sharply.
I looked up at him and saw what it was that had made him pull away.
He was staring down at his hand that was covered in a mixture of blood, snow, and dirt.
His eyes widened and he turned me around.
"Lilly what happened?" He said more sharply, as if daring me not to answer.
I looked him straight in the eye and whispered "I fell."
His features softened and he guided me along to the bathroom.
He set me down on the toilet and disappeared.
After a few minutes he came back, followed closely by Maria.
She immediately set to cleaning up my wound.
While she was doing that I explained to them all about the white horse.
I even told them how I wasn't quite sure if it was all real or not.
"It doesn't matter anymore if it was real or not honey."
I nodded at Maria's words and pushed the beautiful horse to the back of my mind.
Afterwards Logan took me and introduced his best friend Jack to me.
I smiled politely at him and shook his hand.
"By the way, sorry about running into you Jack."
"Pshh, it's me who should be apologizing."
I went to contradict him but Logan shushed me.
"I know what you're going to say and I'm telling you now not to. If we go on like this we'll be here all night."
I giggled and shook my head but he just kept talking.
"It was both of yours fault so just drop it."
Jack and I agreed to just go with that and from there on we became good friends.
He was sort of like a Logan clone, except he added his own touches in here and there.
The rest of Christmas Day was boring, we ate supper then Jack left and everyone went into the living room.
We started watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas and
I would have stayed until it was over, since it was only 8 o'clock.
But all the medicine I took to stop the pain in my head had made me extremely drowsy.
I excused myself when I could no longer keep my eye lids open.
As I got up I saw Logan move to follow me but I pushed him back down.
"You can stay out here, I'll be fine."
I saw the indecision in his eyes even as head nodded his head ok.
I took a quick shower, (which was really hard because of the cut on my head) and then set about finding something to wear.
My eyebrows knitted together as I stared at the clothes in my closet.
Then I turned to the dresser and opened the top drawer.
I smiled as I pulled out one of Logan's t-shirts and a pair of boxers and slipped them on.
On my way to the bed I made a detour to the window.
Outside there was a fresh blanket of sparkling snow on the ground.
As I was turning back to the bed, I had to do a double take.
Standing a little ways away from my window, was the same white horse.
It was just standing in the snow looking at me.
And I stared back at it, much like in the clearing.
I wanted really bad to call Logan in here so he could see it, but something was stopping me.
It tilted his head down a little, kind of like a little nod, and suddenly I got this tingly feeling all over.
Then I blinked.
And it was gone.
But the tingly feeling still remained.
I bit my lip and walked slowly over to the bed and crawled in.
I tried to get to sleep but all of a sudden I wasn't so tired anymore.
So I just let all the unanswered questions fly around my head.
What's up with this horse?
How did it know where I was?
Did it follow me?
I feel like there's something special about it, but what?
Is it a male or a female?
And most importantly, is it even real or is it all in my head?
Long time no see! Lol, well I got this awesome message (Izzey, Thank you!) So I decided to go ahead and post another chapter. I added in a little twist, don't worry though, the focus is still on Lilly and Logan. Enjoy
