Chapter 1
You, redhead…
It was summervacation. Kathy and Rebecca insisted on taking me shopping today. I wasn't in shopping-mood right now. I had a feeling. A feeling that told me, that something would happen today. So, I was in a crappy mood. I didn't want to buy anything, but when I said no to a beautiful, blue dress Rebecca wanted me to buy, she snapped my credit card and bought it. She didn't give me my card back and I was grumpy about that.
"Come on Delilah, lighten up! We're shopping, you love to shop!" Kathy complained. Kathy was blonde with blue eyes and had every guy looking after her. Rebecca's hair was darker, but still blonde and she had green eyes. The guys looked after her too. But me, no guys were looking after ordinary Delilah. I had red brown hair and brown eyes, I was plain and ordinary.
"I don't want to shop, leave me alone," I grumbled. They laughed, I glared. Normally everyone was afraid of me when I was mad, but Rebecca and Kathy never were. People was kind of always afraid of me, but especially when I was mad. Well, they wasn't afraid of me, just afraid of making me mad.
"Try this one, it'll look great on you," Kathy said holding a emerald colored shirt up in front of me. I sighed and did as I was told. It did look good on me, it brought out my eyes and made them look a little less ordinary. I bought it.
"Good girl! You bought it without complaining! I think that deserves a reward…Do anyone want to have ice-cream?" Rebecca asked, looking at me. I bounced up and down in excitement. I loved ice-cream. If I had a crappy day, like today, you could just give me ice-cream and the day couldn't be more fantastic.
"Me, me, me, I want ICE-CREAM!" I yelled like a little child. Both of them laughed.
"Okay, we'll sit down over there," Rebecca pointed at some benches in a corner of the mall. "You get the ice-cream. Give me a chocolate and caramel."
"Strawberry and coffee for me please," Kathy said in a sing-song voice. They walked over to the benches, while I turned around and walked the 10-meters to my favorite ice-cream booth. I ordered their ice-cream and one with coffee and chocolate for myself. I balanced two ice-creams in one hand and one in the other, before hurrying back to the benches.
I felt so much better after my ice-cream and I was back to my normal self. We walked arm-in-arm through the mall, laughing and gossiping. Suddenly some guy yelled at us.
"Hey, beautiful! You, redhead…" Did he mean me? I unlinked my arm and turned around. The guy was walking towards me and when he got close enough, he grabbed me and kissed me passionately. I kissed him back for exactly three seconds before I realized what was happening. I angrily pushed him away. He was hot, light brown hair and blue eyes, but that didn't change anything.
"What the HELL?! You don't just kiss random girls at the mall!" I yelled at him. He should be afraid right about now. I was really pissed off. You can't just kiss people and certainly not ME. He smirked.
"I do," he said it so casual, like it was normal to just grab a girl and kiss her. "and you kissed me back!"
"I did NOT!" I fumed.
"Yes, you did."
"I did NOT!"
"Yes, you did."
"I did NOT!"
"Yes, you--" I slapped him hard across the face and turned around to find Rebecca and Kathy gaping. I pulled them away and stomped out of the mall. I hoped I never had to see his ugly face again. But six months laterI would see it again.
"Oh. My. God." Kathy said breathless.
"Yes, definitely. Oh. My. God!" Rebecca agreed. I huffed and then they started to laugh. After about 5 seconds of hysterical laughter I joined them. Actually it was quite funny and his face when I slapped him, had been priceless.
"Do you… think… it was… a dare… or… something?" Rebecca got out between gasps of laughter.
"Yeah, why else would he kiss me? He was gorgeous!"
"Aw, Delilah, please don't start this again! You're gorgeous! You have nothing to complain about!", Kathy groaned.
"I'm NOT! DON'T LIE TO ME, KATHY!" Mad again. See why normal people are careful with what they say to me? Kathy sighed.
"I'm not, but lets not argue now. Kay?"
"Sorry, my bad temper got the better of me," I sighed. They looked at each other and cracked a grin before saying in chorus.
"We know." And then they were laughing again.
I was laying on my bed, watching Grey's Anatomy, I loved that show almost as much as I loved ice-cream,when someone knocked on my door.
"Come in," I yelled, my eyes still glued on the television. The door opened and closed, and then my mom was sitting beside me on the bed. She softly stroked my hair and waited for me to acknowledge her, but she could forget all about that until the show ended.
"Delilah?" came her soft voice. I mm'ed and she sighed.
"Talk to me, Delilah."
"Shh, there's Grey's anatomy, mom! It's really cool, some guy think he's pregnant, he took a pregnancy test and it was positive! But they found out it was a teratoma or something…" I still wasn't looking at her.
"What? Seriously? He thought he was pregnant?" I nodded. "Scoot over," she said sounding for the first time ever, a little interested in my favorite TV-show.
"Aw, gross!" I yelled when they removed the thing from his stomach. My mom giggled. I sighed and turned towards her.
"What did you want to talk about?" She sighed heavily.
"I'm sorry, Delilah. Your dad's work moved him to Chicago… We'll move in six months or so." She gave a sad smile.
"What? We love Arizona! We can't move!" My voice was raising.
"Lilah, we have to…"
"WE DON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING! I'M NOT MOVING!" I yelled. I would never move. I loved the desert.
"Yes you will, young lady!" Moms voice was raising too and I knew I didn't have a choice, but I didn't care. I WOULDN'T MOVE!
"NO, I WON'T!! I won't, I won't…" My yelling turned into sobs. Mom clutched me to her chest, hugging me tight.
"I don't like it either. But maybe we'll learn to like it."
"No, we won't." She laughed softly.
"I hope you're wrong, honey."
"But you know I'm not…" The tears flowed silently down both of our cheeks.
Okay, this is my new story. Tell me what you think. I know the first chapter was a little short, but the next one WILL be longer! Well, please review and make my day better! Sorry for any grammar mistakes, I'm not from an english speaking country, so I won't find them myself. Feel free to point them out, so I can correct them. And I don't own Grey's Anatomy, but I wish I did!
