may finally be the easiest thing.

my heart hammered against my ribcage
my body shivered
as my fingers reached into my pocket
my carefully written and folded paper
fell onto the desk

my conversation stayed as normal as possible
my mind tried to block out the worst-case scenarios
as my conscience worried about everything
my feet made my body walk away
from what holds my entire life into balance

my next class was just four minutes away
my brain had memorized her schedule
to make sure it would work
my face broke into a smile
seeing her unfolding a lined paper

&my heart melted
because her eyes met mine
in the hallway after third hour
her smile covered her entire face
like I've never seen before
