Even though it might've been Sam, we still didn't know for sure. I mean, what kind of luck would I have if he really was the person we were looking for?
I'm not sure if it would be good or bad.
Elli called Damien back, reluctantly, and told him our thoughts about it. I was supposed to go and talk to him tomorrow, try and become his friend, with Damien following us around everywhere.
I began to get nervous as the night went on, and could barely fall asleep when it was time. The whole day, Elli had been going over with me of things that I should do, but I wasn't able to pay attention. She finally just sighed and told me to go to bed.
By the time it was morning, I was even more nervous, along with being very tired, because I hadn't managed to get much sleep.
I walked into the kitchen, and noticed that Victor was sitting at the table.
"He came about an hour ago," Elli said without even looking at me. Instead, she was staring at a pan that she was trying to scrub vigorously. She must have made something to eat earlier.
"I gotta go soon," I said, looking up at the clock. I figured I was going to show Sam around after classes, because it would be too early in the morning otherwise. Besides, he never specified a time, so there was no way to know. I didn't have his phone number, which led me to think, how did he know mine? Probably just asked one of my friends or something.
I stood up, walking towards the door. When I opened it, I all but jumped when I saw Damien standing there.
"I'll be nearby," is all he said, before quickly walking away, before Elli noticed him.
"You gonna go?" She came up behind me, and I nodded. Elli patted me on the arm encouragingly, and soon I was in the car. We had decided last night that I was going to take the car for the day.
But really, it seems as if they think I'm going to find out that Sam's a vampire and all that, today. I mean, it would take a while to gain his trust, if they didn't plan on poisoning and drinking my blood. He could very well do that when I showed him around later today.
It'd probably be the latter.
I drove slowly to the college, and headed towards my class. I couldn't help but think my grandparents would still be there. I needed to remember to ask we're they were staying.
"Morning." I barely managed to keep myself from jumping when I heard Sam's voice coming from behind me.
"Hey," I said, turning around, and giving my best morning smile. Suffice to say, it wasn't all that good.
"Not much of a morning person, are you?" He walked past me, and into the classroom, and I followed behind.
"Not really. You?" I asked, for the hell of it, but only got a shrug.
"You gonna show me around later?" he asked, sitting down, and I sat down beside him, before nodding.
"Yeah, just tell me when, and what it is that you want to see." I didn't want to show him a whole bunch of things that he wasn't interested in. He might not like me much after that.
"After classes be alright?" Sam asked, and I nodded. "I don't know, just around town, some good places to hang out." He said, as if I didn't really matter, and I nodded again.
"Fine with me."
After a few moments, and when the teacher was lecturing, Sam turned to me again.
"Where's that other guy, Damien?" He asked, and I looked around too.
"I'm… not sure," I replied, wondering why he didn't just come into the class, to be able to watch over better, before I remembered that my grandparents were out skulking around for him.
"You never said how you met him," Sam stated, and I shrugged, not really thinking it was his business to know, but hey, I was trying to be friends, right?
"A friends funeral," I told him. It was sort of the truth. Now that I think about it, Sam didn't even ask how we met, just if I knew him.
"Odd place to meet," Sam said quietly, before turning back to listen to the lecture. That was something else to think about. Why was Damien there? Well, I guess he and Elli already knew each other. What if… What if Sarah's cousin was poisoned? That was something else I was going to have to ask about when I got home.
I began to contemplate many other things, and pretty much forgot about my surroundings, when someone tapped me on the shoulder, making me jump.
"Your pretty jittery," Sam seemed to have concluded. I shrugged my shoulders.
"Didn't get too much sleep last night," I told him, and he asked why, but I only shook my head. There's no way I could tell him the truth about that.
"Oh well. Class is over. Do you still wanna go? We don't have to tonight, you know." Sam stated, but I shook my head.
"Said I would, didn't I? Lets get going." I got up, and started walking to my car, knowing that Sam was following behind me.
I was calming down, but just a little. At least enough not to look like I was freaking out. Much. I managed to get a few odd looks from Sam, but otherwise, he didn't do anything about it.
"Anyplace in specific that you want to go first?" I asked when he got in the car.
"I don't know. Any good places to hang out?" I shrugged. Jared knew more about the clubs.
"A couple clubs, though I don't much go to them." I replied, and he nodded.
"What about quite places?" He asked. Yeah, I knew more about them.
"A couple nice restaurants, and there's a park. Bookstores. Things like that." We were already driving by the park, and I pointed it out to him.
I drove around a part of the city, pointing out buildings to him.
"Anywhere else?" I asked, and it was his turn to shrug.
"I've found where I'll pretty much hang out." He replied.
"What do you want to do now?" I asked, half hoping that he would want me to drop him off somewhere, half hoping that he'd want to hang out some more.
"Want to walk around the park?" He asked, and I hesitated, before nodding.
"Sure."
Too late now.
