Oblivious

The fragrance of flowers
floods my senses.
Idle chatter
consumes the bus.

and yet,
my mind drifts off to you.

Beautiful day,
though heat overwhelms.
Breeze blowing through my hair
and I'm swept off my feet.

and yet,
my mind drifts off to you.

Aged pages
of the book unread,
the words on the page
drowned out by your scent.

an yet,
my mind drifts off to you.

Text books spread out,
all open and scattered on my bed.
Material means nothing,
I can't concentrate.

and yet,
my mind drifts off to you.

The music plays on
hidden messages now apparent.
So sweet,
they resonate in my mind.

and yet,
my mind drifts off to you.

Four in the morning,
and I'm wide awake,
yet feel drowsy
at your voice.

and yet,
my mind drifts off to you.

Teachers drone on,
parents admonish,
God stares me in the face,
world spins 'round my stationary self.

and yet,
my mind drifts off to you.
