Scene V-SCHOOL GYM
JOSIE dances with false enthusiasm near her friends. They all smile and laugh exuberantly, but JOSIE'S flat eyes betray that she isn't really having any fun. The song changes from a fast-paced rock song to a slow song, and Mark comes up and puts a hand on her. She turns around and they begin to dance together.
MURRAY
(Leaning into her ear)
I'm so glad this is all over. I love you, Josie.
She stares at something beyond his shoulder.
MURRAY
(turns around)
What?
JOSIE
(whispers into his ear)
I killed it.
MURRAY
(confused, still glancing over his shoulder)
What?
JOSIE
(Kind of sing-songish)
I wished it were dead. And then it was.
MURRAY
What are you talking about?
She walks away, through the crowd and out the door, leaving MURRAY standing there in horror and confusion. She walks out of the gym and into the halls of the school, which begin to seep with dark blood. "My Life Inside Your Heart" by Rise Against begins to play, and she starts running as dark, spotted blood begins to fill the hall. Baby's cries echo around her, so she covers her ears to block out the noise. The blood gets high enough that she is forced to swim, and eventually she swims with her head touching the ceiling. It covers her mouth, then her nose and eyes, and finally her whole body is submerged.
FADE TO BLACK
"Hakuna Matata" from The Lion King begins to play as the credits roll.
