Father

I do not have a father,

I do not have a dad

To help me grow and prosper

Or hug me when I'm sad.

He left me for a weakling,

He left me long ago.

He left me for a mistress

With a pale, golden glow.

-

I do not have a father,

I do not have that light,

That gentle, guiding giant

To lead me out of night.

He left me without warning

For some darker land unknown.

He left me in the darkness.

He left me all alone.

-

I do not have a father,

That warm and friendly fire.

I do not have a strongman;

I merely have a sire.

He's locked himself in madness –

And how he loves it so!

He's lost, my kindly father;

Where he is, I do not know.
