Prologue

There is a small city in Sweden called Storuman.

As you probably know, many large cities have something special about them, or some symbol that people recognize them by. Las Vegas has casinos and places that have 24 hour wedding services. New York has skyscrapers and rude people.

Even though Storuman is not a large city, it has something special about it too. If people knew what it was... well, let's just say that they'd be famous for things worse than rude people. You see, once every year Storuman is full of monsters.

Monsters that are supposed to exist only in stories to scare small children. Immortal creatures that feed off the blood of humans. Vampires.

About 20 feet below the city there are a series of underground passageways, and once every year the lead vampires from each continent meet below the city to discuss us humans.

The last meeting happened nearly two months ago, and it sounded a little like this:

"The humans have gone too far!"
"The polar icecaps are melting, for God's sake!"
"We're going to have to do something about that."
"The humans can't take care of themselves."

And so the meeting continued until they decided that they would have to do something to stop us from destroying the earth's resources. Something had to be done to ensure the survival of both of our species.

Two weeks after the meeting, they started a war against humanity.

Humanity is losing.
