Lindsey sat cross-legged on the ground. She needed a break from all the people at Warped. Of course, she was stoked to be there and every band playing was insanely awesome, but Lindsey was a tiny bit claustrophobic. She'd made her way through the crowd and after a while of searching and telling her self to calm down, they were just people, she finally found a place that was away from everyone. It was close to the band trailers, but right now she wasn't interested in meeting band members, she just wanted to be able to breathe, so she sat down, she didn't really realize that she was leaning against a band trailer, she just sat there because no one else was there and that was what she needed at the moment, to be alone so she could calm down and breathe. She pulled out her iPod and went to her favorite song; it's what helped her relax more. She calmed a bit more when she heard the piano begin. The song was Lindsay Quit Lollygagging by Chiodos. The song spelled the name with an 'a', but still Lindsey thought it was cool that one of her favorite bands had a song with her name in it.
I hope that she's perfectly fine…
That was Lindsey's favorite line. But the song was on repeat and it was half way over, she was already calmed quite a bit. She took a deep breath but then she felt her iPod pulled from her hands. Her eyes, which had been closed, flew open, her iPod was her prized possession, and no way in hell was she going to let someone steal it just like that.
"Lindsay quit lollygagging huh?"
Lindsey's eyes widened as wide as they could possibly go, and that was pretty big seeing as her eyes were normally pretty big. There Jack Benson stood before her. He was the guitarist for her favorite band, Ultimate Let Down. Not to mention, her current infatuation. She just stared at him.
"What?" he asked "Is there something on my face?"
"O-uh, no, I, no, there's nothing." She stumbled for words.
"You know, I always liked this song." He said and handed her the iPod he had taken from her.
"Me too." She said with a smile.
"So, I'm Jack Benson! And you happen to be who?"
"I'm Lindsey Carson." She said, giving her full name as he had his.
"Oh? Lindsey is listening to Lindsay quit lollygagging? How ironic. So miss Lindsey, if you don't mind my asking, why are sitting in front of my bands trailer? Waiting for us?"
Lindsey blinked. She was where? She turned and saw that the bus she was leaning against said Ultimate Let Down in multiple places in large letters. How had she not noticed?
"I didn't realize it." She said, she was collecting her self and jack lended her his hand and she took it, blushing all the while, he pulled her to her feet.
"Ha, I do stuff like that all the time." He smiled. "So anyways, since you're here, you want o hang out with me? The rest of the band is…I don't exactly know where, but your welcome to hang with me for a while."
Again, Lindsey's cheeks filled with color. "Okay." She said.
"C'mon." he said opening the door to the trailer. She did as she was told. All the while her eyes were glued to Jack. He was this amazingly adorable guy. He was really tall, probably 6'3 or taller. But Jack was tiny too; he was skinny and still had a boyish charm to him. Even though Lindsey knew he was twenty as of two months ago. Jack's hair had these blonde streaks in the front while the rest was back, it was just long enough to cover one of his eyes, so he was always flipping it aside. She smiled as he did it when he turned to face her.
"You are ridiculously quiet." He said plopping down on the couch seat. He pointed at the one across from him and she sat.
"Well, since I already know your name…. How old are you?" he asked. Lindsey had a habit of pulling her legs in a sitting cross-legged and that's what she did, but then stopped, not sure if Jack would be okay with her feet on his couch seat thing.
"Do you mind if I sit like this?" she asked all embarrassed and shyly.
"No, go ahead." He said. He watched as she got into her sitting position. Jack thought she was pretty. She had short brown hair, just below shoulder length, it was layered and her bangs were short and swept to the side. He could see some high lights, but they didn't stand out much, he wondered if they were natural or from along time ago.
"I'm fifteen." She said.
"Ooh! You're so young kiddie!" he exclaimed and leaned forward. She giggled. Jack did that a lot, he had a tendency to make girls giggle. He was one of those people who would say whatever was on his mind and often times, it made the girls smile or giggle or blush.
Lindsey shrugged, "Not really, I mean your only five years older, these not much of a difference. Be sides," she said, " I am always told I am mature beyond my years." She said and sad smile appeared on her face. Jack wondered why.
"Eh, you probably know that I don't like being mature." He said and leaned back, he tried to copy Lindsey in the way she was sitting, but his legs were too long, so he just stretched them out across the couch and leaned back against the wall it was connected too.
"Neither do I," she said, " so I only am when I have to be."
"Ha, that's like me." Jack sat up straighter, "so anyways, Lindsey dearest, why were you out here while everyone is totally rocking out?"
"Well," she said, "I'm kind of sort of claustrophobic. And some people were just, you know, in my bubble."
Jack laughed, "Warped Tour is not a good place to be if you're claustrophobic missy."
"Well, yeah I know, but there was no way in hell, I was going to pass up a chance at meeting my favorite bands."
"Well, you've met one member from one of your favorite bands right?" Jack said with a goofy smile on his face. Lindsey laughed and said, "Try my favorite member of my favorite band."
"Aww, Thank you!" he jumped up and gave her a hug. Lindsey blushed but returned the hug.
"Sorry, was that in you bubble?" he asked, he sat down next to her instead of his seat before. "No, that was fine." She said with a reassuring smile.
"Okay good." He said, "Now! What do we do?"
Lindsey laughed, "I don't know, you could probably do anything you wanted here."
"True. You know what! I feel like looking through all the gifts people gave us. Sometimes there are the most awesome things in there."
"Sounds good?"
He grabbed her hand and stood, "We are off to the back of the band wagon!" he pulled her to the back of their trailer, it was new, probably the bands first time having actual bunks and luxuries in their travels. ULD was a band on the rise, not up there just yet, but they were getting there.
He stood in front of this huge chest in the back and he opened the top. It revealed countless gifts from fans. There were homemade things and Lindsey even saw a Nintendo DS in there.
"Lucky bastards." Lindsey said. Jack laughed. And looked at what she was holding, "Ooh! Yes! Now we have one for everyone, someone gave us three DS's so we had to share, but now we can each have our own!"
Lindsey smiled and handed it over to him.
"C'mon lets play, you can use Alex's DS."
They returned to their couch seats, Jack was next to her and he had his own DS and Lindsey had Alex's (the singer). They were playing Mario Party 3 and Lindsey was definitely getting her butt kicked.
"Ha! I win! Yes!" she said a little over excitedly when she beat Jack for the first time, she even stood up and pointed at him while saying it. She thrust her fist up in the air and said, "Yes!"
Jack laughed, "Aren't we enthusiastic. But you're not winning again!"
They honestly didn't notice as time flew by. ULD had already played their set so they were free to do as they please now, so Jack remained on the bus with Lindsey playing Nintendo DS.
Lindsey only won three more times and she was in the middle of laughing and rubbing it in Jack's face when the other band members walked in with a few people she recognized. Lindsey wasn't obsessed with winning, but after losing about forty eight or so times and then winning, you get pretty excited.
They didn't even notice. "Hey that's my DS!" she heard a voice say playfully. She had been sitting on the edge of the couch and when she turned around, she turned around very fast, which resulted in her loss of balance and a landing on the floor.
"Ow, shit that hurt." She said. Jack was laughing hysterically but he helped her back up.
Alex Greer, the singer, Zack Mason, the bassist, Ryan Daniels, the drummer, were just standing there laughing. The whole band was in the bus now. Lindsey was still standing, laughing a bit herself, but dying of embarrassment in her head.
Jack patted the seat next to him and she sat down again. The other band members shared the other couch.
"So who is this and what does she want?" Alex said playfully.
"This is Lindsey friggen Carson." Jack said jumping a bit in his chair. That was one this Lindsey loved about Jack, even before she met him, he had been her celebrity crush, but there were all these videos of him and things like that and in all of them he was this immature kid stuck in an older boy's body. And Lindsey loved how he wasn't afraid to act stupid or childish in public, that's just who he was.
"You middle name is friggen?" Ryan asked quirking an eyebrow. Lindsey laughed and shook her head. " It's actually Eve." She said.
"Mines Bradley!" Jack said.
"Mines Wilson." Alex said.
"Mines Sean." Zack said.
"And mines Robert." Ryan said.
"Oh?" Lindsey said laughing a bit.
"Dude, Lindsey has to be the coolest fan ever." Jack said. Lindsey blushed. "So have you just been hanging out with her in here while the rest of us got mobbed by fans?" Alex asked putting a hand on his hip.
"Well its not my fault you were dumb enough to stay out there the whole time!"
"Whatever." Alex said, "But how did you guys wind up here?"
"Lindsey was here before I was." Jack said, now Alex turned to her wanting the story.
"I'm kind of claustrophobic so I went searching for a place with no people and that place happened to be here, but I didn't realize that this was your bus, so I was just sitting out side leaning on it when Jack popped up."
"Claustrophobic huh?" Zack said. Lindsey nodded. "You know at a concert, that's difficult to deal with." Ryan added.
"Yeah, I know." She said with a shrug, it was definitely worth getting to hang out with Jack though.
The five sat and talked for a long time, constant laughter and smiles. Jack kind of just noticed how her hair fell and how blue her eyes were as she talked he noticed how full her lips were. Five years was lot, but not that much right?
"It's midnight Lindzo." Jack said, he's made her a nickname after he had said part of her and mixed it up with the word to come next. That was her new nickname, or just her nickname since he hadn't had one for her before.
"It is huh?" she said pulling out her phone.
"Do you have to get home, your only fifteen, you probably shouldn't stay out all night." Lindsey shrugged, "your right, but it's not like I've really got any place to go. No one at home really cares whether or not I make it back."
Jack wanted to ask her what she was talking about, but the look on her face told him maybe he shouldn't. Then he got a brilliant idea. "You should stay with us." He said. Lindsey tilted her head to the side not quite sure what he meant.
"I mean, we're in Cali for three more days on tour, it's all in the bay area, and you told me that you have this week off of school, so you could stay with us for the next three days and then after we could come hang out with you." Jack didn't know why, but he felt that Lindsey needed time away from home. The way she mentioned it, the look that always came on her face, it didn't seem like it was exactly paradise, he felt maybe he could help her cheer up a bit.
"You might get sick of me." She said. Jack laughed, " I was about to say the same to you." Lindsey laughed as well.
"Yeah, that's sounds great actually." She said. "I mean if you don't mind, and like, this Is my only pair of clothes, so I might smell."
"Ha, you can borrow my shirts and I think you might be the same size as Hailey. She'd be willing to let you borrow some jeans."
"Hailey? As in Paramore Hailey?" Lindsey asked with wide eyes. Jack nodded. "Are you serious? I'd get to share clothes with the singer from Paramore?"
"Yeah, she's really nice. She'd probably let you."
"And then I borrow you shirts?"
"If you comfortable with that." He said with a shrug. "I might just die." She said pretending to faint on the couch. He caught her and said, "But you have to tell someone where you're going to be."
"Gotcha." She said. She pulled out her phone and dialed her brother. He was probably the only who did care where she was or what she was doing.
"Kevin?" she said when he answered.
"Linds?"
"Yeah."
"Where are you? It's midnight?"
"I'm going to spend the night at Jessica's for the next couple days kay?"
"…Yeah, okay. But what about Andy?"
"Can't you ask Melissa to watch him while I'm gone?"
"Fine. I love you."
"Love you too. Bye."
She hung up and turned to Jack, "Done."
"Am I Jessica?" he asked. She shook her head, "Jessica is my best friend." Jack sighed, "Alright, at least you have permission to be gone."
Alex came back into the front of the bus. "Lindsey, what's the deal? You need a ride home? Or are you staying with us for the night? Or what's happening?"
"She is staying with us for the rest of the tour." Jack said perkily.
"Really? That's awesome! You have got to be my favorite fan ever too, so when was this decided?"
"Five minutes ago by me." Jack said.
"Alright, that's cool, but where's she sleeping and what is she sleeping in?"
Jack pointed to his bunk, "She'll sleep there and I'll sleep on the couch."
"No! I can't take your bed from you!" she protested. "Uh, yeah, you can." Jack said and shoved her playfully towards it. "And I'm cool with sharing my clothes as long as she's cool with it." Jack said. "And I can get Hailey to lend her some jeans."
"Alright, we're set, this is awesome." Alex said. Jack stood, "men!" he called out.
Zack and Ryan came back in and so did their manager. "We have a lady among us for the next few days! No masturbating and nothing inappropriate or I will have your heads." He said. The situation was explained and Zack and Ryan gave her a hug. Lindsey felt special, she was so accepted here, and it was better than her home had ever been.
